Good News Today after yesterday's weird weather!
Recovery already well underway and Snowing at Tremblant right now!
(Scroll down to replies for a few pic's)
31 Open runs this morning with more on the way!
There are 22 "Progressively" or gradually opening runs
in the count that will come on-line as the Patrol and
Mountain Crews determine that those runs are safe
to allow us back onto.
GoTo: http://bit.ly/96se for all the latest Official updates during the day.
Please Note: As this is being written, there is a quite steady,
accumulating Snowfall! So far, we have gotten aprox. 2 inches/5 cm
of fresh Snow on all sides of the Mountain and it continues
to Snow at a good rate!
Salvage and Recovery.
Quotation from http://www.tremblant.ca , Official Snow Report:
"There is a grooming strategy that is being used after we
receive conditions such as rain – it consists of several phases
and protects our runs for the future. It is a lengthy process
and presently we are in the transition phase. Our grooming
team will continue to work throughout the day to recuperate
from the rain. Therefore, more than half of our available runs
will have a progressive opening. Our snow conditions web page
on Tremblant.ca will be updated regularly throughout the day.
*** The Edge and Soleil Sides and lifts will be closed for the day.
The South Side opening is delayed. ***"
Obviously, the recovery process is weather dependent,
so with that in mind, lets take a look at the meteorological
data first because everything else hinges on that.
Two Screen Shots following courtesy of the Weather Network:
The above weather projections support a quick and long term
return to sub-zero temps accompanied by Snow, which at this
stage, short of a massive blizzard, is the best we can hope for
as the cold ambient temps for later on in the week will at least
allow for Snowmaking, which hopefully, would be part of the
recovery process.
You will need to use caution as you explore the open terrain
as there may be natural hazards that could be covered by a thin
layer of new snow and will not be completely detectable until
you are "on top" of them. Please be careful with speed until
you have verified that the areas you are Skiing or Boarding
on are suitable for your velocity.
Please pay careful attention to the following report.
The "Tick" columns after the Trail Name indicate:
First, Open... if there is an "Hourglass" symbol in the First column
it means that Trail's opening is "Progressive" or Gradual until such
time as the Mountain Crews and the Patrol certify it to be safe.
Second column, Snowmaking
Third column, Groomed, Moguls or Glade runs
There is going to be good Skiing and Snowboarding at
Tremblant today, however, you should use caution as you
explore the open terrain. The Patrol and the Mountain Crews
will be working as hard as possible to bring all the safe
terrain on-line A.S.A.P.
