Great Signs Of Extraordinarily Fine Tremblant Spring Skiing.

April 17 Snow White Winter?

Are You “Kidding" Me?

Nope, it’s that beautiful, and that easy!

All “Kidding” aside...

From A Technical Standpoint:

This pic. below might just be the most important aspect
of the winter-like reboot we have just experienced because
of the tell-tale conditions indicated by the visible airborne
displacement discharge off of the skis that is fine particulate
and very cool, wintery “Dust” rather than large chunks of
heat saturated “Shred” that would be far more common for
any normal mid-April warmth.

If We Put This Pic. Up And Called It “February 18”,
No One Would Doubt It For A Second.

Totally Winter Snow Dust Performance... April 17 ??? YES!!!

It may not be exactly the same today if there are
significantly different solar or air temp thaw factors,
however, due to thermal momentum where we think
convection forces will tend to cause the cold from the
past couple of days to sink into the top layers, we also
think there will be very positive residual effects latent
in all surfaces today.

Weather Notes:

All we can hope for today is that the wet bits are
somewhere other than here, but if they do arrive,
that they are brief and move off quickly.

As far as the future... It’s April... “Showers” are highly probable.

Break out the Descente Poncho for tomorrow...

Conditions Notes:

Generally:

There is an extraordinary range and quality of Open
terrain across all categories that reflects the "Super
Season Superieur" status T360 awards whenever there
is over 600 cm’s of natural snowfall accumulation.

It is very important to note that in this modern era of
recorded snowfall and weather statistics going back
to the 1990’s, that Super Season Superieur status has
only occurred 3 previous times, making this season
number 4 of a very rare attainment.

We expect today to be a largely direct carry-over from
yesterday, especially where smoothness is concerned, however
thermal factors represent wild cards in the humidity levels
of the top layers so we could see higher rates of shred.

In The Groomed:

Overall smoothness and very close to seamless
transitions between skill levels so very easy to
work up on in steepness challenge, especially
if we see some accelerated heat effects that
cause higher rates of shred and/or friction.

There are innumerable wild card potentials for
groomed surfaces due to current and pre-existing
cold, snowy, warm, thawing spring influences that
are typical of conditions when temps oscillate from
below Zero C to above Zero C and back again within
short daily time spans.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

A remarkable amount of high quality Sous Bois
primarily on Versant Nord/North Side terrain,
for any April 18 on record. There are open
Nord/North Sous Bois zones with up to 1.5 metres
of free snowpack depths supporting both access
and durability.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

 If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
