Regional Expert T3609 Fan Feedback:

“Fast and enough snow to carve and keep an edge,
but with some initial courser snow bits. Generally,
one of the best ever opening days of surface quality."

---------------------------------------------------------

Weather Notes:

So far, so foggy, especially at Summit levels.

There may be a slight temp inversion somewhere
because the posted -1C is not accurate and with
an actual warm +1C Sud/South Base level(which
was preceded regionally with torrential rain
yesterday), the overall ambience is from very
humid to outright damp, but so far, no rain today, and...

It is forecast to start snowing just around the noon hour.

It is totally normal to have lots of thermal swing cycles
in late fall, but we have actually had very few and this
little warm bubble we’re in now is not going to be either
excessive or long.

Here below is an excerpt from our pre-season forecast
that is completely relevant to both today and the near
future.

Conditions Notes:

Overall:

On a relative scale, with 53cm’s of officially recorded
pre-season natural snowfall, we have a statistically
above average head start on the base composition
where the ratio of natural to blown snowmaking is
way higher on the natural side. Great news for both
initial coverage and quality.

The yesterday weather has been just about the only
warm burp in weeks and it should be noted that at
cooler Summit level elevations it barely touched the
plus temps briefly so we do not think there has been
any loss of the fantastic early winter coverage at all
and furthermore, with grooming, there should be very
fine “Spring-like” conditions.

In The Groomed:

Very fine “Spring-Like” conditions with a firm, machine
groomed base that has a high ratio of natural snowfall
composition compared to average opening days.

With temps floating around Zero C +/-, and “damp”
as any form of weather element, it is not hard to
imaging that with dropping temps there may be the
odd icy bit. For that reason, well tuned edges are
recommended in all initial phases of the new season.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

These categories are not yet available and even
though it may look tempting to explore, no one
should ever go out of bounds at these early
stages. A thin layer of snow-camo covers
all kinds of rock and wood hazards that are
not safe. Please obey all boundary marks and
pray for snow.
