Regional Tremblant Expert Fan Feedback:
“La Traverse is not for Beginners.”
-------------------------------------
Weather Notes:
Training Days...
Apparent By Their Numbers...
Youth Race Teams from all over the Eastern region
swarm to Tremblant at the beginning of each season
because they know there are reliable conditions for
training. This is exactly why you should consider getting
out now too. For sure, open terrain is limited, but the
exercise of performing practice in drills can not be
overstated for recreational skiers as well. A lot of people
are happy to just survive on the slopes, but if you actually
want to get better, develop up to Expert levels, there’s only
one way to do it, get out and use the early season to do drills
and rep’s.
Watch And Imitate:
Look at what the Race Team Coaches have the kids doing...
Copy them if you can.
100% of what the kid’s are doing is transferrable to recreational
skiing and if you invest even a tiny portion of your day into practice,
you will be a better skier by the end of the day. Period.
Conditions Notes:
In The Groomed:
Fantastic early season abundant natural snowfall conditions.
Whenever there’s this much natural snow in the composition
of the base, you know the skiing is going to be clinically great.
The three primary reasons are that a)... Mother Nature is facilitating
large and rapid terrain coverage and quality, b)... this large amount
of open terrain spreads out the traffic loads across such a big square
area that there is much less wear per square unit open space,
c)... the way above average ratio of natural snow in the base mix
yields a far more natural, far less course granular, feel to the
underfoot descent experience. It just does not feel like typical start
up conditions, the smoothness in the surfaces feels like mid-winter,
right from the beginning.
New Opening Terrain Expansion News:
Sud/South, Nansen Bas/Lower With Snowmaking.
This is the big one. Opening Nansen Bas/Lower automatically
allows a Sud/South Ski-out to the Resort base so downloading
on the Gondola at end-of-day ends.
Nord/North Expo Sector Snowmaking.
Lowell Thomas Sector “Rope Tow” to “La Traverse”
on “Progressive” Open today.
It should be noted that this is typically a period of
heavy developmental concentration for Versant Nord,
North Side terrain expansion due to the Tremblant
hosted early season events(F.I.S. World Cup/24Hr
Fundraiser) at the Sud/South Resort Base over the
first 2 weekends in December, in order to offer the
public a compensating amount of square area and
variety.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
First Day Progressive OPEN at Versant Nord/North Side
at Lowell Thomas Sector “Archipel” Haut/Bas, together
with the “Axle” traverse from Beauchemin to Lowell T trail.
Generally:
It’s the Sunday of a long, Holiday(U.S. Thanksgiving) weekend,
and there’s a regional snowstorm going on...
Typically, the regional commuters will begin to head for the road
at the noon hour for the long and maybe stormy road home ,
so commonly, the afternoon Mountain skier traffic will dwindle quite
perceptibly by 1:30 PM. and the balance of the late day may seem
almost empty compared to a peak at around 11:00 AM.
