And right behind the “Flying Mile” peak in the scene above,
is this typical Summit level snowy trail-side scene below:

December 2, ??? Yup, and if you said it was January 2,
or even February 2, no one would doubt you for a second.

Weather Notes:

Really cool to start and with the wind, really, really cool.

But... warming significantly by mid-day, so this afternoon
will be the most user-friendly, typical.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Fabulous early season seamless, smooth and FAST,
primarily natural snow base that is a joy to ride and
drive(#) on.

We Were Right!

Yesterday, we predicted the potential of a cryogenic
cold-shock effect that might take out the slight
surface friction that had been apparent from the
snow at warmer temps, and indeed, exactly that
happened. Tremblant was fast with vastly improved
glide. That inherently greater speed was also augmented
by a very high level of lateral turning force grip in the
top layers and the combination resulted in the ability
to easily generate both directional control and acceleration
responses to aggressive edge-sets, particularly with a
bit of a skating motion added to turn finish.

These are some of the finest early season groomed
conditions in Tremblant history.

(#) Many recreational skiers are content to simply let
gravity do all the work and to us, that’s “Riding”.
However... When the snow is this fast and grippy
it is quite capable of responding to any skating
action acceleration in the turn finish with a wonderful
and very easily controllable speed acceleration that
is quite nearly like having a gas pedal to increase
velocity and to us, that’s “Driving”. Combine some
driving action to the natural turns and contours of
any descent path and it’s rather like taking your
Ferrari to the race track!

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

Roughly 1,129,452 wild cards of thrills, spills, adventures and
challenges that are legitimately “Experts Only”.

Another way to express it is that Sous Bois conditions are “raw”.

There are hazards that are not easily visible from above
and if you don’t want to slam your body or your ski bases
into them, total speed control and instant stopping ability
is essential.

For those who enjoy, there is a ton of fun, but there
is also risk associated with the shallow early season
coverage and you need to accept that going into these
zones.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

 If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
