No Camera Known On Planet Earth Could Capture
The Etherial Beauty Of Tremblant Right Now.

Unfortunately, snow-stormy flat, low contrast light
in mid-December when the northern sun is at it’s
lowest in the sky, does not photograph even close
to the spectacular vision the eye see’s here. In person,
this scene on Versant Nord/North Side P’tit Bonheur
would take your breath away in a Mother Nature black
and white winter stage of almost spooky and awesome
wide angle visual presence that can not be captured
effectively by any imaging that currently exists.
You literally need to be here to appreciate just how magnificent
the full, white-winter conditions look at Tremblant in person.
And On Top Of That...
The skiing in the scene above is literally as good as
any excellent day in mid-February with immaculately
level grooming over a silky smooth fresh and all natural
mantle of new snow that is seamless, grippy, totally
ice-free and FAST!
in our opinion, it could easily be argued on technical
merit that it was the best day of the so-far season and
furthermore, that today could be a complete and total
repeat, or better.
The high quality of the current conditions are broadly
applicable to all skill levels and open terrain categories
relative to this date in the new season.

Weather Notes:
The overall picture is that due to strong, wavy influences
of the Polar Vortex being propelled by Alberta Clippers
and the Jet Stream, Eastern North America is experiencing
the rapid onset of deep winter conditions in what is
technically late fall. Excellent news for Ski Resorts, but
it does mean you need to be prepared for colder than
average weather anywhere North of the Florida boarder.

Conditions Notes:
Generally:
If you haven’t figured it out by now, you must
be really thick. Otherwise don’t waist another
second... fantastic “Runaway From Home”
conditions that mean you should drop everything,
make all the excuses you need to whomever you
need to make them to, and leave A.S.A.P.
for Tremblant.
In The Groomed:
Absolutely phenomenal for what is open.
For sure, it’s still early season, after all there
are only 32 Officially open trails, but in the
groomed, the quality is fabulous and even
though we’ve experienced some daily variables
in the glide factors, the smoothness and silky
natural feel underfoot has been remarkably fine
and currently it’s really fast.
If there is a slight caveat in the groomed, it might
be that with so much new snow all at once, there
could be some zones of lofty softness that may be
prone to thickness, tracking or mid-day minor mogul
formations. With all that said, the new snow is so soft
that no matter what, it is just a joy to play on and as
such, it’s a super fun opportunity to explore in.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
For this date, excellent, but not perfect. There are
still some early season shallow base hazards but
on the flip-side, the snow is wonderfully soft and
almost completely ice-free.
12.10.25.Nord.North.Fuddle.Duddle.Haut.Upper.Mogul.Zone.T360.Observations.d.jpg
Believe it or not, this is your author running the moguls
on Versant Nord/North Side Fuddle-Duddle Haut/Upper,
and while this predominantly all-natural coverage is
exceptional for this date, as you can see in the lower
left corner of the frame, there is a granite “Shark Fin”
that if you slid sideways over, could severely damage
your base or take an edge out. You might encounter
none, or up to a handful of these anomalies on any
descent line. The challenge here is to keep speed totally
under control because you can not see a lot of these
hazards from above, so if you are flying in the air and
land on one, it’s already too late.
Ultimately, this trail may get groomed level once or twice
and that will help fill in the blanks by building a solid base
between letting it go to moguls again, but in the mean-time,
you need to keep a common sense conservative speed that
you can facilitate instant hazard avoidance corrections for.
As great as it is for this date, it’s still early December and
not the 3 metres of a typical mid February base. The Sous
Bois group is much more sensitive to base depth than the
groomed, but make no mistake, for this early date, the
conditions are fantastic.
