After The Big F.I.S. And 24Hr. Events Are All Over...

The big Stories On The Mountain Are Refinements And Expansion.

Here is a case study on a typical example of both,
Versant Nord/North Side, Expo Sector, La Griffe.

This is great example of a recently opened trail
expansion that has very common initial conditions
where snowmaking and natural snow are combined
for the foundational trail base.

Conditions here are described by a third-party
Expert as super-smooth, but very firm with
icy bits and some areas of course-size particulate.

The overwhelmingly positive characteristic is its
“Smooth” level of opening refinement, right out
of the box.

Initial firmness and or icy bits and/or course particle
sizes can be expected at the beginning of any season
at any ski resort that uses snowmaking in November
and early December, however... anything and everything,
no matter what, is way, way easier and more enjoyable
when the default is “Smooth”.

Like everything else opened in this way, this trail
will respond very quickly and favourably to both
user traffic and repeated overnight grooming cycles
during a break-in period.

In the mean-time, it highlights the need to bring
your skis or board to the Mountain with sharp, fresh
edges in order to facilitate grip and control. Good
edge quality will make all the difference in the world
between grip-and-go, and slip-and-slide.

This trail is on the list of what we would call “Periodic” grooming
so once the season gets going, and especially after big snowfalls,
you may see this trail get left for moguls between grooming re-sets.

It is a huge local favourite and there are a lot of happy
folks, including us, excited to see it start off in such a
fine fashion!

Weather Notes:

Relatively warm, really easy.

Conditions Notes:

Generally:

With snowy weather and snowmaking weather,
vision can be a challenge. We recommend a
clear or yellow tint lens in these conditions
as well as reduced speed where forward sight
can be reduced to only a few metres at times.
If you see thick fog, slow down immediately.

In The Groomed:

The two big stories are “Refinements” and “Expansion”.

On a daily utility basis, refinements are the order
of the day as Mountain Crews add another night
shift of grooming that should see both the restoration
of trail surface smoothness as well as the enhanced,
incremental improvements in the recently opened
terrain that have a more typical blown snow base
that may have a courser size particle. Both skier
boarder traffic and the repeated machine work will
break in those surfaces and we would expect to
see a bit of that every day moving forward.

As far as expansion is concerned, this time period
between now and the upcoming Christmas Holidays
is usually one of the times of most rapid open terrain
development and the best indicators of what’s on deck
are the snowmaking icons in the Official list below.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

Continued exceptional for this pre-Christmas time period.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

 If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
