Boxing Day Sale On Very Cool Skiing!

And At -25C, We Get The KKkkool Side Of Record Weather Too....

Weather Notes:

Even though it’s a bit on the extreme side,
if we had to choose between “Melt” and “Cold”,
we’d choose “Cold” every single time...

A reminder that every single day of super cool
injects frost deeper into the Mountain substrates
which in turn extends the durable quality of the
base support in spring. All we can do is look at
the bright side...

If you journalize local stat’s without larger context, people
reviewing may conclude extreme weather anomalies like today
as only localized so we routinely include a “Big Picture” frame
to show our weather is not just a bubble, but is a fragment of
a far larger continental/hemispherical matrix.

Conditions Notes:

Generally:

Very cold temps make for superb snow conditions,
however the obvious challenge becomes maintaining
personal warmth with garment systems capable of
retaining comfort levels of internal heat.

The answer is of course, layers. Layers do not have
to be expensive either. Some folks will think they
need to own an expensive threat-level 10 Artic Parka
for a handful of really cold days, when 98% of that
net benefit can simply be achieved by purchasing
a slightly too-large, pocket-foldable, wind-breaker
shell and putting it on over your existing ski jacket.
Adding an inexpensive additional outer boundary layer
of insulating air space can easily extend your ability to
maintain core temps for the few cold days you may
encounter of any ski holiday, without breaking the bank
or adding another major luggage item.

In The Groomed:

Quickly maturing base conditions as compressed
groomed base strata now condensed from over
220cm’s has achieved both thickness and density
that generates near seamlessly integrated levelling
across the range of skill levels within the groomed
group.

Cold snow is typically also fast snow, so we expect
the smoothness to be accompanied by great
performance in both glide and natural speed.

If there is a caveat, it cold be that the vigorous
winds that have occurred in recent days may have
generated some front facing slick or icy bits,
however with repeated night-shift grooming, we
think those spots will be minor, as well as in
obvious spots that should be easy to recognize
within easily observable Mountain patterns.

Approach all crests where you can’t see below,
with very conservative speeds and stop if necessary,
before you pop over the top.
