102/102(*) Open Trails At #Tremblant.
Oh, Joy !!!
It’s always special when setting up for a technical photo
and someone skis into your frame showing off in a moment
of spontaneous joy for your camera. It makes the technical
excellence here so much more genuinely personalized because
of its instantaneous authenticity that we can all relate to.
First Tracks On The One, The Only, Versant Nord/North Side P’tit Bonheur.

With All Due Respect...
The professional Ski Resort Industry pays Sports Models
to be photographed with big happy smiles in ideal
conditions, but here at Tremblant360 we look for,
and are thrilled to find, totally natural joyful reactions
and this authentic moment above is a prime example.
It’s Just Another Superb Snow White Mid-Winter Day
Where Average Is Excellent!
Todays Secondary Theme:
Fifty At Five.
Today is the first day of the new year when sunset is after 5:00 P.M.
Today is also roughly 50 minutes longer than the shortest day of the year, hence...
Fifty At Five.
It might not seem like much to anyone on a day-to-day
basis, but an hour more daylight actually has a profoundly
positive effect at Tremblant because of the increase in contour
definition, particularly on Versant Nord, The North Side, where
the long shadows of the shortest days of the year obscure the
little variations in surface shapes. When you can’t see them
as well, those little dips ’n dives can disrupt your rhythm as
your peripheral vision does not recognize the upcoming physical
surface contact the same way it does when there is brighter
light and sharper contrast.
In the dynamics of skiing at high speed(compared to walking),
your brain processes visual information in milliseconds, sending
autonomic messages to muscles for millions of applied force
and balance control inputs that occur on subconscious level
along any complete descent path. With better visual signals comes
improved performance because what you see is anticipated and
compensated for automatically on a proactive basis. When
you can’t see as well, you’re body can only be reactive.
On a relative scale, the same differences could be applied
between sunny days and cloudy days, but in this case the
focus is on the overall lighting improvement in any weather
that happens when there’s longer and more direct overhead
light throughout Open hours.
Weather Notes:
Conditions Notes:
In The Groomed:
Provided you’re on terrain matched to your realistic
skill sets, you simply can’t make a bad decision.
If you’re a legitimate Intermediate, the Blue and Green
terrain are going to be some of the very best conditions
you’ve ever been on. The glide factor is fast and speed
control is easy.
This cryogenic cold-formed snow renders such forgiving
performance, it’s so easy a caveman could do it.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
Powdery Light, Snowy Delight!
Generally:
If you could be here, but you’re not...
You’ve made the wrong decision.
