------------------------------------------

48 hours ago, it was -20C at base levels, cooler yet at
elevations, all this following about 2.5 months of really,
really KKkkool Polar Vortex induced cryogenics. That
cold is embedded in the surfaces and even though we
have warm atmospherics today, we think the surfaces
are going to be as fast as a greased weasel because it
typically takes a lot more heat than this to displace the
cold in the snow and the tiny bit of warmth if it has any
effect at all, can make for about a 2mm of very fine,
mist-like coating of super-fast surface contact lubricant.

One distinct challenge possibility is vision. Low cloud fog
has a bajillion suspended micro water droplets that can
coat goggle lens so you may see lots of folks trying to ski
with goggles up. That may be a successful strategy if the
eye-blast is not too uncomfortable, however the very best
option is our standard recommendation for yellow, curved
lens industrial safety glasses to shield eye and restore fog
bound contrast.

Weather Notes:

There is a bit of a conflict between forecast sources
where some are calling for freezing rain and others,
just overcast, or with snow flurries. Of course we’re
looking for the snow, but even if there was the freezing
rain, we don’t think it would be anywhere else but base
levels and that Mountain elevations maybe stay dry or
snowy. We could be wrong, there are a lot of wild cards
whenever the temps hover around Zero C with precipitation.

It is fairly likely that driving conditions might be the
worst of it, so if you’re commuting watch out for
slippery roads.

Otherwise, looks like a super-mild sunny, spring preview
coming up over the next week... Nice!

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Fast and grippy, as long as your speed is proportionally
regulated to pitch angles because what may make it fast
may also make it seem slick at very high speeds when
forces of directional momentum can overcome turning
traction.

It’s still primarily winter, but there could maybe be little
hints of super-thin spring so you’ll want to have a highly
tuned sensitivity to conditions that could vary significantly
over descending elevations working down to warming base
levels.

The precipitation wild card could change anything, anywhere,
and... we’ve seen quite a few temperature inversions to warmer
Summit levels, so if that happened, even more wild cards.

Just one of those days where you need to be ready for anything.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

Generally fine, but with infinitely variable unique
challenge generated by both pre-existing traffic
wear patterns and current weather influences.

Cautious explorations at reduced speeds are essential
as is stopping before going over any crests you can’t
clearly see below. There may be significantly changing
conditions along any descent lines that require Expert
experience and muscle demand so don’t be dragging
your Intermediate friends into any Sous Bois zones
without knowing conditions are safe or there are exit
ramps to take in case of whatever.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the “Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

 If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
