102/102(*) Open Trails At #Tremblant .
Today “Crispy”, Tomorrow... “Snowy” ?
Maybe?
As you will see below, there are big differences in the
weather/precip. forecast models and the net effects
could be dramatically different.
Naturally, we’re hoping for the snowy version.
Weather Notes:
So if you look at the hourly in this forecast, there’s not
even a speck of snow, but if you look at the actual
weather radar, there are big bands of very active
snowfall moving from West to East like a freight train,
headed exactly our way.
Will they fade off before reaching here? The regional
forecast accumulation model from The Weather Network
suggests not.

Conditions Notes:
Generally:
Yesterday saw the first “+” C thermal event in weeks,
maybe months, so there are probably some slick or
icy bits that may generally render “crispy” conditions,
therefore...
---------- Equipment Caveat: --------------
Freshly/Recently Tuned Ski/Board Edges Essential For
Optimized Safety, Fun And Overall Utility. Please Note:
Directly Applicable To Every Day For Next 6, Moving Forward.
If, if, if... the snowy forecast prevails, we could see
a substantial mitigation however that remains to be
seen. Even then, the effects could be short term, so
we still say "bring them sharp edges" if you’re attending
in the near future.
In The Groomed:
Select excellence where the last 24 hour temp cycle
may have generated firm slick or icy bits, especially
if the grooming was done before the overnight low
was established.
Loose top layers may be limited and/or subject to
shallow depths that could maybe be displaced with
traffic, consequently you should be very observant
regarding sector patterns.
All initial explorations should be undertaken with
reduced speeds to confirm effective control limits
and all crests that you can not see clearly below
should be approached in a stop ’n go/slow mode.
Speed will be easy, rapid gravitational acceleration
may be problematic if pitches are entered without
low speed caution. Start with low pitch angles before
working up and always maintain stopping control.
Watch Out For Mixed Skill Sharing Zones Where
Those With Lesser Skills May Make Sudden Or
Unpredictable Directional Moves In Front Of You.
Your Speed Does Not Entitle You To Right-Of-Way.
All Above Need To Be Able To Stop/Avoid For All Below. Period.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
This is the most sensitive trail group as whatever
softness may have moulded/shaped bumps or
contour traffic wear paths through any of yesterday’s
somewhat soft or malleable high internal humidity
snow, are most likely going to be solid. Airborne or
freestyle mogul bashing could see hard landings with
harshness and reduced forgiveness.
Slow, deliberate and carefully reduced speeds
on all explorations are critical. Gravity through
slick, steep ramp shapes can result in skyward
launches in the proximity of trees. Be super careful.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the “Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
