7 Cm’s Of Fresh Snowfall !!!

O.K., so it’s not a blizzard (like at NYC, or like Europe(#)
where over 80 people have been killed by blizzard
induced avalanche and there have actually been
Resort closings because of too much snow(???)),
but it is a hugely meaningful refresher that will
absolutely elevate overall quality.

Normally we wouldn’t be quite so excited about
7cm’s, but technically it’s been 2 weeks and a day
since the last big snow, which is a longer than
average precipitation gap, so we’re thrilled to
see Mother Nature get back on track around here,
especially for the sake of the Sous Bois trail group
where this will be most appreciated.

(#) Anyone who watched the 2026 Olympics in
Italy/Cortina/Milano will have seen that the
European Alps was having a barren snow year
as in most outdoor venues the most visible snow
was only on the completion tracks and the surrounding
valley’s and Mountain-sides were brown and even
green, obviously absent of natural snow. Well, in the
last week, that has all changed and Mother Nature
went crazy, dumping metres and metres of snow in
record quickness, causing huge, unstable Mountain-side
accumulations that have just fallen off the steep slopes
in rapid, sudden and catastrophic amounts, wiping out
huge tracts of lower elevations, covering roads, villages,
and valley’s with tons of snow that have seen 6/7 meter
depths, enough depth and force to literally push trains
off the tracks and knock them down the slopes.

Google or You Tube search “February 2026, European Alps Avalanche Events”.

We have written extensively about weird regional/continental
and global weather recently and we’re seeing more of it going
on around us right now as there is an obviously wild and wide
range of unusual weather system dynamics in play.

What this has meant for Tremblant specifically is that we’ve
been part of the Eastern North American unusually cold
Polar Vortex exposure for many weeks, thankfully with an
early abundance of natural snowfall that has carried us
forward to today with 100% open terrain and practically
speaking, almost zero significant thermal effects. As a
today-specific anecdote, at Feb. 26, 2026, we are within
25 cm’s of the 30 year total seasonal snowfall average,
a remarkable place to be considering we still have a week
less than 2 months left to go for additional snowfall.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Extraordinarily fine to excellent with particularly
Green and Blue rated terrain due to the seamless
integration of new fresh snowfall with the night
shift grooming.

Previous firm and icy bits on steeper Expert/Black
slopes should be dramatically less noticeable,
however depending on traffic and wind-shaping,
may still exist around and over topographical
crests, so caution and sharp edges are vital
components of all initial steep explorations.

As usual... Look for patterns and default to
really slow or stop wherever you can not clearly
see well below the crest you’re going over.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

The new snow is going to be a major benefit, but it
will show wind-shaped favour between sectors and
even down over individual descent lines as the buffering
of trees and topographical contours will have facilitated
extra deposits in some zones and lesser in others.

Many, many wild cards, but every snowflake counts so
be cautious and look for lee-side backfill zones to
find the best new fresh.

Please Note: The Versant Nord/North Side Duncan Quad
has been undergoing a primary electric motor replacement
since Tuesday and if all goes according to schedule, should
be completed today for reopening to the public tomorrow.
Updates to follow.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the “Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

 If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
