March 1, 2026... Lamb Or Lion ?
First Tracks... New Month.

Weather Notes:
After decades of observation we generally subscribe to the
old adage concept where the March weather profile is
“In Like A Lamb, Out Like A Lion”, or... “In Like A Lion, Out
Like A Lamb”. “But”... further, we’ve observed there can be
mixed signals at it’s beginning, like the really cold start today
which would definitely be winter Lion-like. What we’ve really
come to sense with these 2 old sayings is that they should be
considered relevant to the first week of March, not the literal
first day or first 48 hours and when you look at that span in
the 10 day long range, it appears very “Lamb-like”.
What we really like about that, if, if, if... it holds true... is
that it generally means a strong winter signal in the closing
phases of March that durably propels our ski season forward
into April with naturally better Alpine trail coverages.
Will it be true this year? There are no guarantees of course,
but the old adages are generally, not specifically, true. So, on
that basis the probabilities favour an extended winter outlook
with the consequent retention of quality/coverage.

Conditions Notes:
In The Groomed:
Technically this could be one of the top 10 “Front-Side”
carving days of the season. After several light snowfalls
and repeated grooming night-shift cycles, we think the
product this morning is going to be extremely fine and
near seamless over all ranges of freshly groomed skill
levels.
One of the most significant factors in those “Best Of”
considerations is the variety included in the absolute
number of Open trails. There may be future days of
best or even better carving, but as March moves forward
we typically see the advance of spring warmth eventually
causing fewer open trails, so the point is, if you want 100%
open terrain access, go sooner.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
This group is the most sensitive to both weather cycles
and traffic patterns so when it comes to March availability
we really begin to see seasonal changes. It’s not always
in the number of open Sous Bois, but it definitely can be
in the quality, forgiveness and coverage around either the
outboard ranges or along the most popular descent lines.
Once again, if you want more and better, “sooner” is the
best planning strategy.
Generally:
March’s spring thermal cycles and busy Spring Break
guest traffic can/will generate random icy bits in the
evolving base strata. If you don’t bring fresh edges, you’re “nuts”.
Please Note: Versant Nord/North Side Duncan Quad Scheduled To Open.
We did observe late day testing yesterday so it will be
a great relief to have this uphill capacity back in service
for the Quebec school holiday week coming up.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the “Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
