What many casual recreational skiers who can also be
referred to as “Fair Weather Skiers”, don’t realize, is just
how technically fine and fun conditions can be on any day
like today.

The essence of technical merit is still 99.9% there today
as it was yesterday, maybe even more-so because there
is likely going to be a slightly deeper surface strata of
grippy softness.

Weather Notes:

For Today Specific:

The hourly forecast profile suggests the afternoon
could see the best, i.e. the least rainy, conditions.
When the forecast shifts from rain to showers, that
typically means things change from overall to smaller
localized transient bands of passing active precip.,
so we predict there will be quiet and or dry periods
later on. We could be wrong...

Looking forward:

There is high potential for variation in the forecast beyond
24 hours so opportunistic planners with discretionary
ability to run away from home to get in some last spring
skiing laps should be paying close attention to evolving
projections that could show windows of opportunity(such
as are currently shown for Wed. and Fri.).

We could be wrong but spring weather forecasting can
change substantially in hours, so be ready just in case.

Here’s another example of what should be very fine,
fast, fun skiing today...

Conditions Notes:

Generally:

Where open, technically very fine, spring, super high traction action.

Of course... the primary challenge for today is to be able to stay
dry enough to enjoy it on a practical level. What you’ll see is most
Pro’s that have to be on duty today will be using their Descente
Brand Poncho’s, simply because they work.

The secondary challenge may be vision. It’s a very low
cloud ceiling so the Summit is currently cloud-fogged.
Yellow lens eye protection is what’s needed. We suggest
industrial curved yellow lens safety glasses because it’s
already hot out so you don’t need goggles that can fog
inside, you just need to prevent eye-blast from forward
motion.

In The Groomed:

The groomed trail base is still quite solid and in our opinion
we think there is easily enough stored refrigerant in the
embedded Mountain frost depth to support wide ranging
surface durability for the remaining open days.

The range of viable open terrain may be affected by some
topographical high-point contours where traffic and grooming
may have made coverages a wee bit thin, but so-far that has
been minimal. Today and the next couple will likely see more
of those exposed thaw zones but we think in relation to the
overall scope of frost supported coverage, they should be
quite small.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

Even though they may not be open today, the coverages
are still remarkably fine in zones like this Versant
Nord/North Side sample that was open yesterday:

4.12.26.Nord.North.Marie.Claude.Asselin.Bas.Lower.Easy.Expert.Fun.b.jpg

We can tell you for a fact that in the trail-side bush
snowpack in the above MCA sample, there are depths
still exceeding a metre, around 4 feet of snow in the
Sous Bois that was open yesterday.

Notwithstanding management priorities we are not
aware of on the basis of individual safety or preservation
objectives, the technical durability is absolutely in place
so there may be potential for re-opens at almost anytime
moving forward.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the “Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

 If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
