With the focus of the new Green Beginner zone at the Soleil
base, we think it might, maybe, could be, possibly, reasonable
to suspect and speculate that the main descent from the new
Timber High Speed Detachable Quad, the one the trail map
simulation(jpg. file “b”, 2nd above), shows curving around from
the top of the Timber peak, to enter Algonquin just at the upper
Algonquin plateau, may be an ultra-Green, gentle descent for
the benefit of never-ever learners just graduating from the new
base learning zone.
(Of course, we could be wrong, however, as additional information
becomes available from credible sources, we will update this file
with A.S.A.P. data.)
Part of the historical challenge in getting Beginner folks onto the
super user-friendly gentle Algonquin slopes has been the often
difficult to navigate portions of Trail # 40, Franc Sud, which as
a main access corridor to the entire Soleil Sector, has 2 distinct
steeper bits, and can be prone moguls and icy bits from all the
traffic it has to handle.
For decades there are those who have wished for a more expansive
never-ever learning zone, as well as a better, more gentle connection
to Algonquin, so we think this may be a solution that could deliver on
all those desires.

As far as the other new trails that are in development
off the Timber peak, specifically on the Soleil side, we
think they may be primarily Blue rated in keeping with
overall Soleil themes but we would not be surprised to
see both challenging Black and additional very easy
Greens to complement overall skill levels that gives
more of “Something For Everyone” vibes.
The fun parts are both going to be in the anticipation
and the Opening Day explorations, but for now, all
we’ve got is the anticipation until the chain saws fire
up and explorers start reporting where the timber is falling.
We are not privy to the construction schedule, but it
could be as soon as immediate for any level of detailed
survey/trail marking and “really really soon” for bush
clearing. The lift install is most likely a project that will
start in April of 2027 and if it is similar to the Lowell
Thomas high speed quad, 7 months, through to Opening
Day, November 20something, 2027, that should be ample
time.

If we had to make a guess at a candidate for at least one
Black Expert run, it might, maybe, would be the run under
the new Timber Quad, that terminates at # 41, Toboggan.
That leaves us with what some may consider one of the most
important total Mountain utility benefits which is the new trail
announcement for a run off the backside of the Timber Peak,
going to the Versant Nord/North Side trail network where as far
as we can see, it is set to join the run-out corridor from Trail # 55,
Jacey-Jay Anderson, down around, maybe just below, the Trail
# 58, Boiling Kettle, as you can see from this annotated diagram
below.
This is a huge asset to overall efficient travel around the Mountain,
not only as a second/alternate path to Nord/North facilities, but as one
that completely by-passes Summit traffic and the need to climb up
from the Soleil Quad off-load, to get to Nord/North lifts and terrain.
We think it is most likely that this new trail to the Nord/North would
be an easy Blue skill level in order to facilitate the greatest degree of
user skill levels.

It should be noted that even as this is written, there appears to be
an existing effort to increase access and utility within the Summit
entry levels to Versant Soleil as significant construction has been
observed in the upper Tiaga zone, down and around, right, to the
entrance plateau of Trail # 95, Algonquin. Over recent seasons, there
has been quite a bit of local speculation that there could be a far more
gentle and gradually pitched pathway to the top of Algonquin by this
route that would by-pass the current challenge of # 40, Franc Sud and
that has been backed up with some Social Media posts with construction
pic’s in these areas. We will attempt to get more Official information, but
it seems clear that there is a very big effort underway to enhance Beginner
skill level access to the excellence of Algonquin for those just starting
out, and if true, one that will rival Nansen as one of the finest entry level
learning zones in all of North America.
