2/13/10 Conditions

Post by T360 »

Last run, end of day update:

the weather forecast was wrong. The sky cleared up,
the sun came out and it was a glorious, sunny day.

Temps remained well enough below freezing to keep
surface quality high and there were many positive feedbacks
about the enjoyment being shared by all.

Everything else about the conditions applied in terms of grip
and edge set carving ability.

There was a good crowd out and there were line-ups, however,
the singles line was moving right along, particularly at TGV
and Expo, where in many cases, you could just get right on
or the line was less than a couple of minutes, depending on
which side you came in on.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's Snowing...

It's Snowing in St Jovite... It's Snowing on the North Side,
so evidently, the snow is a regional phenomenon, not
just local little squalls.

It is not yet any kind of blizzard proportion, but any new
snow is a welcome and necessary addition to our
Mountain.

89 Open Trails, with snowy overcast for the day. There
are a few runs such as Gagnon and La Traverse that are
designated "Race" today, and on the South Side Ryan's
run is closed completely. On the Official Grooming and Trail
status report below, you can see the "Flag" icon in the tick
columns beside the trail name.

Hopefully, we'll see some accumulation over the course
of the day. The forecast has been for snow and at one point
the weather network was showing possible accumulations
of up to 10 - 15 Cm or say up around 6 inches, but they
have since scaled that back, so we'll just have to wait and see.

The most likely scenario is that we will have a day of "Flurries".

Weather aside, the Ski and Board conditions are very high
quality, surprisingly so after the odd patchy glitches we had
the day before. Everywhere we went yesterday had remarkable
"Grip" and you could very reliably count on your edge set to
maintain carved turns with precision. There was the odd little
spot, but nothing very big. As always though, you needed to
be sensitive to variable surfaces and traffic, so once again
today we will recommend careful exploration before you go
ripping around as there are some small slick zones.

Today should have more of yesterdays very consistent, high
quality, surface conditions. Lots of "grip" and excellent
carving for both Skiers and Boarders.

This will also apply to tomorrow, so if you're thinking
about it, don't waste any more time, just plan for
Tremblant Sunday.
