Well, other than the 3.9 EarthQuake, yesterday was
an exceptional Ski/Board day!
(Here is a link to the preliminary data
on last evenings 10:52 P.M., 3.9 Magnitude
EarthQuake: http://tinyurl.com/ybtevov )
Today will be an even better Ski/Board day as
we are up to 94 Open Trails, including Ryan's,
top to bottom!
We do not know if it will be a better EarthQuake
day, that remains to be seen at this stage!
Our conditions are exceedingly fine, beyond what
we might have ever expected after all the recent
weather that the surrounding geographic regions
have received. How did Tremblant get so fortunate?
Elevation, Convection and Orographic Precipitation.
1) Elevation. At just under 3000 feet above sea level,
the Summit is high enough to have an ambient temp
that is 3 to 5 degrees colder than the base, so when
it's at the freezing mark at the base, it's typically that
much lower at the top.
2) Convection. Hot air rises and Cold air sinks. If you
have a large conical shaped object, lets say Mont Tremblant
for example, and it is sticking up into a cold air mass, cold
air sinks, so Tremblant's slopes pretty much get a wash of
cold, sinking air all the time.
3) Orographic Precipitation. Warm, moisture laden air flows
along the surface driven by wind, then it encounters a large
geographic feature that forces it up into colder air masses
where the moisture condenses and falls as precipitation.
As long as the temps permit, like in winter, we get snow.
Weather conditions can be all about "Tipping Points",
factors that when combined produce any given outcome.
Add 'em all up and we have todays remarkable conditions!
We'll take all the help we can get, and when Mother
Nature smiles on your Ski/Board Mountain, you just
relax and enjoy the riding!

There are exceptional conditions at Tremblant
and you should make every effort you can to
get out and take advantage of them.
