62(*) Open Trails this morning as we are Officially
into spring by a couple of days now. This will be
a fairly quiet week as all the "Spring Breaks" are
over.
The over-night low temp got down to around -7C
which was plenty cold enough to freeze things
up, consequently, it will be icy for a while this morning
until the sun and wind work to soften the surfaces.
Keeping the above thought in mind, explore the
Mountain cautiously this morning as conditions
are going to vary, by the hour, once the days warmth
begins to work on last nights frozen. Terrain features
as simple as shadows could make some areas icy, while
immediately to one side or another, the sun has thawed
the frozen layer. As you can imagine, if you're carving a
great turn and hit an icy patch, an accident could occur.
Those who are lucky enough to be here are going
to have that "Private Club" feeling as traffic on
the Mountain is going to seem very light compared
to the Holiday numbers of the past few weeks.
All Roads Lead To Tremblant...
so when you come around the last bend,
here's what you see!

Trail status report, courtesy of http://www.tremblant.ca
We hope your favorites are open, but regardless
there will be great skiing/boarding within this list,
you'll just have to explore to find it!
Alpine and Beauvallon on the South Side will
be 2 runs that soften up quickly under this
mornings bright sun. Classic Tremblant trails,
these favorites offer some of the most consistent
pitches with high quality surfaces that the
Mountain Crews usually keep as close to perfect
as possible.
Long Range Weather Models show Snowfall
or Freezing Rain, or Ice Pellets for tomorrow,
followed by Snowfall, on and off for the next
3 or 4 days.
Thankfully, at this stage, it looks
like a return to cooler temps and a wee bit of
snow. That would be great, as the daily transition
from freeze to thaw will be very much more
tolerable with a dusting of snow to provide a
fresh quality of surface traction.
Spring Rule #1
The true believers are always thankful for whatever
they can Ski or Board.
Spring Rule #2
There will always be great Skiing and Boarding
somewhere within the open terrain at Tremblant,
the Mountain Crews take care of that.
Spring Rule #2 Acknowledges that:
A) There will always be hazards within the open terrain,
such as may exist due to; being uncovered during daily
use, and or located in areas intentionally not groomed,
such as designated mogul runs/zones, and/or weather
conditions that are not controllable, for example.
B) That matching ideal terrain to any users skill level
is a very individual choice made by the user and it is
therefore up to the user to cautiously explore the open
terrain to locate conditions best suited to their skills.
Bottom line on rule #2... "use your head" with highly
variable Spring Conditions... don't "get in over your
head" and risk injury. Stay safe, and have fun in
terrain you can maintain complete control in.
Spring Rule#3
Every Spring Ski day is to be cherished and is worth
the effort. It's a long time 'till next November.
