3/23/10 Conditions

Wow... severe winds affect trail openings...

Down to 23 open trails at this precise moment in time....

(Once this bizarre weather settles out, the Open
Trail count should climb back up into the 50-60-70
range, depending on the amount of snow we get
with the balance of this weather system.)

As this is written, the South Side is closed, both
lifts and runs. The North Side is open. Looking
at the Official http://www.tremblant.ca Snow Report shows
a "progressive" or gradual opening of 4 South runs, so we
think that we may se at least Beauvallon opened so
people can ski or board to the base of the South Side.

That's what can happen with volatile weather, so all
we can do is hang in there and wait for it to pass...

On A More Positive Note...

Here is a copy of a post from "Trip Advisor"

"Potential Powder Snow Alert March 22nd, 2010

Regional Diehard Skiers and SnowBoarders

There is a good probability that the next 7 days
could see one of the most snowy one week periods
for this season. March, "In like a Lamb, out like a Lion"...

The Weather Network forecast starts out with modest
accumulations, the first one @ 10CM then... +1, +1,
+3, +5 and then finally "More than 10CM" for one week
from today.

That means 30+ cm in a week. The temperatures are
forecasted to be as low as -10 to -15C night time and
just below zero for most daytime temps. Perfect for
Natures own snowmaking.

That much fresh snow would restore Tremblant to a
significant degree in terms of open terrain, but equally,
it would restore the quality of the snow surfaces to
winter like conditions of grip and traction.

Don't take your snow tires off just yet, toss your gear
in your vehicle and get ready to head for Tremblant."

We like the sound of that, but only time will tell if
any serious amount of snow will actually show up, so
as usual, we hope to see Mother Nature bless us with
the best possible results, more fresh snow!

Please note: During severe weather, open trail
counts are subject to frequent revisions throughout
the day. Please check with http://www.tremblant.ca for latest
updates. We will attempt to post changes here as well.
