The solar energy will definitely soften things up
after an overnight low of -10C, our estimate
would be at somewhere around 10:30 --->11:00A.M.

Here's what you get today at Tremblant!
Sun, Fun and Fabulous Views!

The wind is forecasted to be a moderate 10km from
the South, so it will be crossing the Mountain from
the Soleil Side toward Nansen and depending on its
ultimate velocity, the softening process may be quicker.

How to Locate and Use the Tremblant "Sweet Spot"

Spring cycles on a daily basis that go from overnight
freeze to daytime thaw include a "Sweet Spot" where
surface conditions go from solid to soft, before they
become mushy, when there is great grip without
the resistance that too much moisture generates.

The wind is often a factor in how long the "Sweet Spot"
lasts. When it's relatively light, it lasts longer, try using
a blow dryer on an ice cube compared to just having
the cube sitting without air movement, you'll see what we
mean... Anyway, the "Sweet Spot" is that period of time
when you can rip around and get decent speed without
drag and it's the best time of the day to have fun!

The secret to extending the fun you'll have with the
Sweet Spot at Tremblant is that it occurs in a sequence
on the different sides of the Mountain, depending on Sun,
Wind speed and direction and how cold it was last night.
If you can identify that sequence, then you can enjoy it
on a different side after the one it started on becomes too soft.

There are different ways to identify the sequence, but 2
of the easiest are:

1) "Face the Heat" ...To Begin with, standing at the Summit,
face the heat you can feel on your face... head in that direction.
Once that zone gets too soft...

2) "Lead the Heat" ... as the sun moves across the sky, try to
stay ahead of its most concentrated energy or if it's really too
hot, go in the opposite direction.

At Tremblant, it's easy to stay in the "Sweet Spot" because
we have a minimum of 2 sides, North and South and a maximum
of 4 sides if Soleil or the Edge are open, to explore.

Last week, for example, when Soleil was very soft, thick and
quite difficult to turn on, both P'tit Bonheur and Beauchemin,
on the North Side were smooth as silk, without any bumps to
speak of, as they got far less heat, were even in the shade to
a degree and had exceptional traction, grip and good speed.

Experimenting with your run selection by sampling the different
sides and sectors of Tremblant is half the fun and will help you find
the "Sweet Spot" of Spring Ski and Board conditions!
