Sun Gone Wild!

It's HOT out there!

...and we don't just mean the Telus SPIN action, either!

We don't think you can get much more "Spring"
@ 16C than this!

46 runs open on South and North sides only
as Soleil is being held in reserve for the weekend
and Edge is now off-line for the season, as far
as we know.

Yesterday was an important day in Tremblant
history. Local Olympic Gold Medal winner,
Jasey-Jay Anderson took part in this event
in his last race before retirement. This pic shows
2 participants carving their way down through the
immaculately prepared Dual Giant Slalom course
on Tremblant's South Side run, McCulloch.

Spring Rule #1
The true believers are always thankful for whatever
they can Ski or Board.

Spring Rule #2
There will always be great Skiing and Boarding
somewhere within the open terrain at Tremblant,
the Mountain Crews take care of that.

Spring Rule#3
Every Spring Ski day is to be cherished and is worth
the effort. It's a long time 'till next November.

Caveat:
A) There will always be hazards within the open terrain,
such as may exist due to; being uncovered during daily
use, and or located in areas intentionally not groomed,
such as designated mogul runs/zones, and/or weather
conditions that are not controllable, for example.

B) That matching ideal terrain to any users skill level
is a very individual choice made by the user and it is
therefore up to the user to cautiously explore the open
terrain to locate conditions best suited to their skills.

Bottom line, "use your head" with highly
variable Spring Conditions... don't "get in over your
head" and risk injury. Stay safe, and have fun in
terrain you can maintain complete control in. Use
caution with speed at all times and explore at slow
speed to verify safe passage before ripping around.

Apres Ski... Last Run, but not just today's
Apres Ski, we're talking about the signs of
real Apres Ski, like May and June.

Both of the following were taken within 3 meters of the
groomed edge of P'tit Bonheur.

This first shot is interesting because despite the rapid
runoff due to the toaster oven heat of the day, there is
a surprising amount of snowpack in the trail-side bush.
There are places here that you can sink a ski pole 18 inches
into the snow before you hit the ground.

This second shot is interesting because it simultaneously
has nothing and everything to do with our Ski Season.
1) Nothing... it's a tree branch.
2) Everything... it's growing, and not just a bit. This is
a "shoot" and the only way tree shoots grow this quickly
is with heat and moisture, so unfortunately, its presence
signals everything to do with the end of our season.

The skiing has been described as "Thick" and it
is definitely a good workout.

"For Best Results", these conditions need a focus on
solid, basic technique, including "old school" narrow
stance, skidded turns. You need to be able to adapt
very rapidly to variable surface resistance, moguls
and hazards common to late spring, but it's still fun!

If you want to get a few more turns in this season,
best make your plans quick.

See Rule #3 Above.
