Super Sunny Sunday!

Happy Easter for all those celebrating
this Holiday weekend.

There's a ton of action on at Tremblant
today, the crown jewel of course is the
Telus SPIN SkiCross.

The Skiercross became an official Olympic
sport in late 2006, with competitions held at
Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. You can cheer
national-calibre athletes in the heat of the action
and get ready to feel the adrenaline rush as they
fight for first place on the podium right here
at Tremblant!

Sunday April 4
Inspection - 8:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.
Training - 8:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.
Qualifications - 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Finals - 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Medal ceremony - 3:30 p.m. (Place Saint-Bernard)

30 Open Trails at this point in time.

We say "At this point in time" because the initial
open trail count at just after 6 A.M. was at 39, so
evidently the Patrol has determined that there
were safety issues with some terrain that
necessitated closures.

Unfortunately, this is the nature of "Spring" conditions.
We have been absolutely astounded that the Tremblant
Mountain Crews have been able to keep as much open
as they have, considering the thermal assault of sun and
unseasonably warm temps for around 3 weeks now. This
last 2 days of 25C and wind has been particularly hard on
the remaining Snow.

Quotation from the Weather Network:

"From Kapuskassing, Ontario to Gander Newfoundland,
temperature records were smashed--and not just by a
bit! In a lot of cases, the new records beat the old
ones by up to 13 degrees! Environment Canada's
senior climatologist Dave Phillips says, 'We're seeing
temperatures that are more like what you'd expect
on the long weekend in July — Canada Day as opposed
to Easter weekend.'

Weather Network meteorologist Rob Davis lists off the
hot spots across Canada yesterday.
'The hottest place in Canada was Sherbrooke, Quebec
which was just shy of the 30 degree mark. Ottawa
saw a high of 29.'

In fact, many cities set new records on Saturday
including Sudbury, Hamilton, North Bay, Trenton,
Windsor, Montreal, Moncton, Sydney, Halifax and St. John's."

At 16C, You can't get more "Spring" than this at
a Ski Resort, but as odd as it may sound, if you
have been here over the last few days with the
record highs at 25C, it may seem cool today!

The Skiing and Snowboarding will be greatly
enhanced if you wax or coat your bases with
a "warm" wax or other similar hydrophobic
coating.

We hear all kinds of "comments" about the
challenges of spring skiing, but very few of
those commenting have taken the time to
appropriately prepare their skis or boards.

We can tell you for a fact, that properly
"warm" waxed or coated skis/boards
perform almost as well as in winter conditions
and will make a huge difference to the
enjoyment of any spring day.
