Do Not Give Up On the Skiing/Boarding At Tremblant!
Worth Every Effort For Weekend Planning!
Sun, Fun, A Handful of Classic Runs Open And
A Couple Of Lifts To Get To The Top!

That's all we need.

We will be thankful for whatever we get for closing
weekend...

As stated here before:

DEFINITION OF:
"Diehard Tremblant Fan/Supporter"

Like us, if there's a strip of snow wide
enough to turn on and a way to get to the
top of it, you'll ski Tremblant anyway,
rain or shine.

Here's What's Happened With The Weather.

(24Hr history)
Yesterday, Weather Network Forecasters felt we could
get Snow, but evidently, that did not pan out.

We've had our eyes firmly fixed on this weather system
for the past 2-3 days straight. It's been interesting to watch
Mother Natures hands wrap around half a continent, but she
has not given us the temps for snow.

Tremblant has been in the path of a very vigorous
Super Thunder Weather Cell. It did not last very
long, a little over 2 hours, but it was really putting out
a fair bit of rain for a while. We will also be subject to
random, "Drive By" showers and/or squalls, but that's
a wild card... we could get some or maybe none or not
much.

(REMINDER: what you need to Ski rain comfortably with
is a Descente Poncho from Magasin de la Place, in the
Resort Village. For just around $100.00 bucks, this is one
of the most useful items of Ski Gear the Serious Skier
should own. That and some big Industrial rubber gloves.
Makes Skiing in the rain Fun!)

Fri. Afternoon Weather Radar Update: @1:20 P.M.

Weather Radar screen shot.

This Weather Radar display shows land masses
in Vermont, New York, Quebec and Ontario,
where the tower is located, just South West of
Ottawa.

Tremblant appears in the upper right corner of
the screen. All the colour that was in last nights
radar has moved off to the East and here we can
see a "Clean Sheet" with no significant precip.
on the map at all.

On to Conditions and Tomorrow's Weather...

11 Open Trails this morning with a repeat of the South Only
Summit Access. Overcast skies and +6C. In this case, the
overcast is a slight benefit in that there will be moderately
less thermal damage to the Open Runs with no direct sun on
them.

There is still a possibility of 1 or 2 CM of snow in the next
12 hours, so at least from a cosmetic point of view, it could
give the Mountain a fresh, white look for the weekend and there is
Sun in the forecast! Overnight temps just cracking the freezing
mark. Daytime high temp for tomorrow forecasted at +7C under
bright, sunny skies.

With any luck, if there was damage within the Open Trail portions,
it will be repairable from snow within the existing Snow Reserve
that might be available from other sectors of the Mountain that
are closed permanently for the season.

For example, recent Apres Ski reports have shown Tremblant
Mountain Crews moving snow across the Summit from the
top of Soleil towards the top of Lowell Thomas.

Our feeling is that the volume of rain came so quickly that
it may have generated a "Flash" run-off where it basically
turns into very fast moving rivulets that carve out little creeks
rather than a long steady rain that really soaks in and dissolves
larger portions away.

If that's the case, we hope Mountain Crews can do "Spot Repairs"
which would be a lot easier than big sections of washout.

Time will tell.

If anybody can give us an Alpine Surface, it's the
Tremblant Mountain Crews!

There will be good skiing and boarding within the open
terrain. The best chance for "Hidden Gems" will be
on the sweet runs off Lowell Thomas. Rigodon, for example,
should be excellent.

"Best Case Weather Scenarios" would be that this system
will all of a sudden take a different direction, evaporate
straight up toward space or blow by us with no more rain.

Lets see what Mother Natures choice is!
