The weather today is a bit cooler with base level temps at around
-11C. The summit will be around -15,16 or so and with a continued
West wind, you will want to bundle up and keep all potential
air gaps well sealed. There is a lot of "Swirl" in the summit winds,
but once you descend from that level, they calm down, direction wise.
The North Side is in the "Lee" or shelter from the winds that are
basically coming up Beauvallon on the South Side, so if you're looking
for the quietest sector, it should be from just below the summit and
on down on the North Side. You may feel the wind a bit as you come
to the top of the Lowell Thomas Triple chair and riding up the TGV Quad
it will be hopefully at your back.

If you can cope with Vision Maintenance Procedures for safe
passage from the Summit and around snowmaking zones
(as per instructions included in this link: http://alturl.com/oq3nt ),
then the Surface conditions are excellent.

What a difference a year makes! It was a year ago today
that Tremblant opened after several postponements due to
warm weather.

Obviously, we're a lot farther ahead. We've been Skiing and
Boarding on great high quality surfaces since Opening Day
2 weeks ago. Thanks Tremblant for all the efforts!

If you live in the New England region of the U.S., Great Britain, Toronto,
Montreal, or anywhere else other than Tremblant and you're planning a
Ski /Board holiday here, what all this means is that we're going
to have a super, high quality base in place for when you get here.

This season is shaping up to be a good one, so if you're sitting on
the fence about coming, DON'T, just book it and get ready for
the magic of Tremblant!

Bottom line: Tremblant's gettin' better every day
and there's a TON of stuff goin' on, so don't miss it!

Apres Ski @Tremblant.

These notes are primarily for Skiers/Boarders planning to
visit Tremblant this weekend and may be concerned about
how many runs they will have with the big Charity event going on.
We'll look at the days following too...

Clues to the near future development of Tremblant's
expanding open terrain.

The Official http://www.tremblant.ca Snow Report holds the
most likely answers to what new Trails are going to be
opened next.

The best indicator of "What's Next" is the "Snowmaking" column
located on the far right hand side of the document.
So what do we see there right now?

Firstly, there are all the South Side runs that are required to facilitate
the running of the 24Hour Children's Charity Fundraiser. For the
purposes of this article, we're going to leave those aside, because as
the regular ski/board Mountain users, we're not in the Charity event
and what we're interested in, particularly for this upcoming weekend is,
what can we use while the event is on.

SOUTH SIDE:

On the South Side, we've got Charron[daytime], Desserres, Haut(Upper)[nighttime]
and Desserres Bas(Lower)[daytime], plus McCulloch[night] and Tashereau[day].
The square brackets indicate time of day for snowmaking operations.

We would speculate that the South Side group of runs listed may be opened to offer a
parallel track to the 24Hour course. At this late stage, so close to the big event, we think
it's somewhat dependent on how much more natural snow received, plus, "How things go"
for the rest of the 24 Hour set-up as to whether-or-not we get these runs for the weekend.
It's worth a shot. If it's NOT possible for this weekend, then no problem, these runs all need
to be filled in for the Christmas Holiday period, so no efforts are wasted.

NORTH SIDE:

On the North Side, we've got Duncan, Bas(lower)[day], Rope Tow[day], Rigodon[day]
Beauchemin Haut(upper) and Bas(lower)[day], Gagnon[daytime] as well as Expo
Haut(upper)[day] and Expo Bas(lower)[night].

If it's possible to have "Top to Bottom" on the North Side runs, they can take a lot of the
regular Mountain User traffic that will be displaced on the weekend by the Charity event.
That would definitely be a big help for everybody because it just takes a huge amount
of stress off the South Side Lift system which is going to have a full "Charity" load to
begin with.

The key to making the whole North Side "Top to Bottom" thing work, besides Beauchemin
Bas (lower), is Gagnon. This is the run that will allow the Expo High Speed Detachable
Quad Chair to function as a connection from the base to the summit, via the Lowell Thomas
triple, on the North Side.

An added bonus for Skiers/Boarders is whatever Mountain crews can get open besides lower
Beauchemin, like Expo itself. Hard to say on that one, but wow, it would be fantastic if
that were possible!

One thing is for sure... With a weather forecast like this,
chances are things will be a lot different next week at this time!

Just look at the daily snow depth forecasts!!!
We could actually have an epic
powder week coming up here!

Add up all the possible snow accumulations and it comes to...
65 centimeters! That's equal to 25.59 inches! ...or, over 2 feet!

Potential Wow, WoW WOW week
coming up at Tremblant!
