Congratulations to all who contributed to the $1.8 Million
success of the Tremblant 24Hour Children's Charity
Fundraiser!

Up to 18 inches or 46CM of drifted powder in some North Side
contours. About 20CM, or 8 inches of straight, light, snow
on the North where the wind is not able to get at it.
Similar on South at 2:30P.M. as far down as Alpine Haut(upper).
South side turns to wet snow below Alpine.

Open trail edges have a lot of fresh everywhere.

Conditions require skills beyond absolute beginner, but
manageable for even the new, if you take your time
and control your speed.

Vicious Wind at days premature end forces close.

Scroll down for more info. to be added as time permits.

Standing at the top of "Flying Mile" at about 2:15 A.M. admiring the view.
There's only one time a year anyone can have the opportunity to say
they do "Night Skiing" at Tremblant, and this it.

Kinda cool to see the lights of the "Night Shift" ranging around in
Packers and Snowmobiles as they prepare the Mountain for us for
tomorrow. Check out the "glow" just to the left of the summit.
There's a big Packer over there grooming the slopes.

The 24 Hour Children's Charity Fundraiser goes on throughout the night
on a course descending from the top of Flying Mile, down across the
TGV loading zone. There are 2 courses running parallel. The "Participants"
or "Normal" people take lower Beauvallon, the "Racers" take Biere-en-bas.
They both end up in the Start/Finish/Transition zone at the South Side Base
on the foot of Johannsen.

Report content brief this A.M. as we want to make the finish of the big event.

Basically, we've got 16 open trails for regular Mountain users today and
12 trails designated for the 24 Hour event for a total of 28. The Official
Trail and Grooming status is attached here. This document is courtesy of

While it was no-doubt windy, and sometimes awesomely gusty,
"Proof of Gusty" provided below...,
the skiing and boarding were exceptional.

These conditions however, are not necessarily for everyone.
True beginners, or those with little experience in handling
heavy/deep snowfall and the consequent conditions, could find
themselves out of their comfort zone.

If you didn't like it today, you probably need more skills.

Expert Skiers and Snowboarders, even confident, quick learning
intermediates, live for powder practice days like today.
As can often happen, the North Side delivered the best results today.
There was much less general wind there and the snow is laying
in thicker/deeper.

In the mean-time, gusts on the South Side, particularly when we
got to bottom, were very strong, strong enough to blow people
and things over. Tremblant made the right decision to close
lifts for safety.

The "Fuzzy" look of the people in the lower portion of this frame
were obscured by surface winds whipping snow into a boundary
layer of at least 30-40 feet off the surface in places.

"Proof of Gusty"

We were waiting for the bus to take us back to the car on the
North Side, after we got stranded on the South Side by the wind.

Standing there, the wind just started to howl, then it blew this tree
over onto the gear of these kidz as they too, were waiting.

Sorry for the amateur photography, had hands full at the time,
and almost all pic's have fine snow whipping through them,
but you get the point. Some people were upset that they closed,
but it was the correct decision.

(The Photo effect I tried for with the below, considering the poor settings
to begin with, was to go for the "Pissarro" look of Impressionism
as an artistic salvage of a bad picfile.) (Google "Camille Pissarro")
