"Filling In The Blanks."

Mountain Crews will be using this very stable, sub-zero weather
to "Fill in the blanks" ie: build up new trails for opening, with
snowmaking and grooming of existing natural and blown snow.
Additional terrain is added as quickly as possible between now and
Christmas to accommodate Holiday guests.

Existing Early Season Alpine Ski and
Board Conditions, Very, Very Fine!

Today we have 24 open trails on the official list. There are actually
more, but there are "Race" designated trails which are being used for
training, and as such, are not publicly accessible.

From time to time, we also get questions about why the trail
count is what it is, with the inclusion of the connector trails,
trails shown as "race" or "Progressive".
Here is one explanation of "Trail Count" content:

It's a cool one out there today with Summit temps at around
-15C. Fortunately, the winds are forecast to be fairly light, and
from the South-West, or coming across the summit from the Soliel
sector towards Beauchemin, so as long as you've got enough layers
on, you'll be fine.

It was forecasted to be overcast, however the sun has been seen, peeking
through the clouds. Speaking of clouds, we 2 kinds today, the natural
ones, plus the micro-climate snowmaking clouds that can cover a
lot of the Mountain, depending on how may snowmaking guns are
running and wind direction.

Here's a sample of how you'll find the Summit today, but as noted above,
there have been some more pronounced sunny breaks, so this scene
can change either way.

Proof of Duncan.
Fantastic News for everyone who wants to know how the repairs
on the Duncan High Speed Quad are going...

The new Duncan Summit Control Cabin has
been delivered to the site!

Nice to see that all the components are coming together for the
Duncan Quad to come back on-line. Not a moment too soon either,
as Christmas Holiday traffic is just a little over a week away. As we
said earlier in the week, depending on how close this unit is to
"Plug and Play", we should see rapid construction progress and testing
within a few days.

Please note: Small "Flag" icon in "open" column
indicates this trail is designated for "Race" today
and will not be available for general traffic.

The open trail system continues to be developed by the
Tremblant Mountain Crews on a daily basis.

Consistent ideal snowmaking conditions, plus natural snow
in the forecast should translate into a lot of new terrain being
opened within the next week.

For this second web cam snap shot we swing the camera
over left and zoom in on the "new this season", stationary
Super Turbo Snowgun which has a light attached to it.
This thing looks like a rocket launch, or the afterburner of
a CF18 jet fighter as it cranks out mega-snow. Typically,
at least for the last 3 or 4 seasons, they'll let the stationary
guns build up very large mounds of snow and then use the
packers to spread them around.

As we were compiling material for this report, we just happened
to be viewing when the "Night Shift" was grooming the Expo base
loading zone.

Tremblant.ca are still reporting snowmaking on Vanier, Expo Upper
and Lower as well as Lower Duncan too, so when you put all the
evidence together, we think Expo is not too far off.

Other Breaking Tremblant News...

Then, talking about "Filling In The Blanks.",
like we did this morning...

Open trail count going up by 10 tomorrow morning!

We'll have more on that first thing in the morning...

Point your skis and boards toward Tremblant!!!
