.
By all Weather accounts, this will be the last
"cool" morning for quite some time.
A return to more typical, and warmer, seasonal
values will be occuring during the day, today.
Once the temperature climbs up this morning,
then through the afternoon, it is forecast to stay
up for the next 2 weeks.
This will be a big relief for those who find adapting
to "chilly" conditions difficult, but as we have pointed
out here before, everyone that has come through the
"cool" period will find being out in the warmer temps
is going to feel like a "day at the beach".
Also, lets remember the silver lining in the "cool" cloud,
which is that the more cold that gets put into the Mountain,
the longer our fantastic conditions will hold out.
You could think of it as if the Mountain was one big
refrigerator, storing all that frozen energy so that
when the warmer temps finally roll around, we get
to hang on to our precious Snow Longer than others.
The wind today is westerly, or coming up Tashereau,
and it could be brisk this morning, but it should be
calming down as the day progresses, so you will need
to start out with full, covered skin mode, then as things
get warmer, adjust.
Now then, todays surface conditions are nothing
short of perfect.
The cool ambient temperature keeps the moisture
level in the snow very low, or as we like to call it,
very dry. The result is some of the finest Skiing and
Boarding surfaces you will find anywhere.
The amount of "Grip" or traction quality is just about
the best it can be and there is next to ZERO ice underfoot,
so no matter where you go on the Mountain, you can
experience a level of confidence and control that is very
rewarding.
Conditions like these are fantastic for building skills, simply
because you do not have to worry about uneven surfaces
affecting your technique.
Days like today are also great days to take a lesson as all
skill levels will find the confidence and control of these
conditions, a direct benefit to the learning enviroment.
Moving on to what follows, time and weather wise, we
see that there is:
SNOW IN THE FORECAST !
That's right, as the temperature climbs here, we are getting
into natures most ideal conditions for Natural Snow to fall
and indeed, looking at the long range weather shows that
we can expect that to happen for the next few days.
If you added up the daily maximum expected amount of
Natural Snowfall possible over the next 5 days or so, it
comes to over 20 Cm, or 8 inches, so of course, we would
be really excited to see all that happen!
If you are sitting somewhere other than Tremblant right now,
thinking about your decision to plan a visit, make it simple
for yourself, pack up your gear and head for the Mountain NOW!
People that enjoy Powder Snow are often called “Powder
Hounds", and this could be your calling if you fall into
that group.
