Weather models show sub-zero 'til early afternoon
and possibility of freezing rain late afternoon, so
today will pretty much be a perfect, mild winter day.

Tomorrow will probably be another story though...

More later as time permits...

Apres Ski....

Temps rose to just above freezing this afternoon, but under mostly
sunny skies, so at least there was no damage or inconvenience from rain during
the day.

The Official http://www.tremblant.ca preview snow report for tomorrow shows the
number of open trails at 74, however there are a substantial number of
progressive or gradual openings within that number.

Our experience suggests that the progressives on the preview are there
because tomorrow is too far off to commit to an exact number when the
weather between this afternoon and Opening tomorrow morning has so
many variables. For example, it could rain less than forecast, it could end
up being a lot colder than forecast, or it could rain more and be warmer
or any combination that could mean surface quality being lower or higher
than anticipated.

In other words, we think they need to cover the bases for both best and worst case
scenario's until the Ski Patrol can get out there in the morning and see just what's
good and what's not.

That is a very reasonable thing to do, so we'll keep fingers crossed for a best case.

Mountain Crews will be going into "Preserve and Protect" mode in order to
optimize surface quality and retention so what we as customers need to do,
is let them do their jobs and be patient while they sort out the best strategy.

Bottom line, tune in tomorrow morning for timely details.

You do not need to tune in tomorrow morning to know that there is going
to be great spring skiing and boarding though. With such a high quality base,
it would take a lot more than a rainy day to effect the skiing. Typical of warm
conditions occurring suddenly during winter, the base can absorb quite a bit
of thermal energy with little or no reduction.

Get out your Spring Ski Gear and get ready for a fantastic Spring Preview.

This little thermal "Blip" for a day will indeed require a fair amount of
grooming effort to help restore surfaces after the temps drop back into
the sub-zero winter range, but as all experienced Mountain users know,
we go through this every season at one point or another, and in a few days,
we'll get over it.

There's still a lot more winter to go.
