Mixed surfaces of machine groomed and natural trails
that are typical of a 48 hour post-thaw recovery period.

Here are 2 Summit Web Cam Snap Shots, Courtesy of http://www.tremblant.ca
The first is a large overview....

We can see by the Ski-Doo and Ski tracks that the Summit has
a fine, loose, snow surface that has visible depth and edge set
capability. This quality will be extended to all groomed surfaces
on the list below.

These surfaces are the result of a regional thaw/rain event
that took place 2 days ago which was followed by a quick
freeze overnight to yesterday morning, throughout the
East Coast Region of North America.

Mountain Crews have been working since then to process
the solid surfaces into granular surfaces by applying the tools
they can put on behind the Groomers.

Due to the acreage involved which we estimate at over 500,
it is a lengthy process that involves several steps where initially
there can be course, or larger size pieces(referred to by some people
as "golf ball" in size), and as they can work over the surfaces repeatedly,
as in day by day, the pieces become smaller and finer. Ultimately, the
goal is to restore a fine particulate and loose snow surface that Skiers
and Boarders can carve on, as you see illustrated in the above close-up
web cam shot.

This goal was made somewhat easier by the overnight snowfall of 5 CM
the night before last that came with the quick freeze.

Mountain User traffic will also be a component of the surface restoration
as many cycles of edge wear from users skis and boards will
contribute to a finer particulate surface.

Due to the scope of the Mountains vast dimensions and the time necessary
to apply mechanical corrections to the surfaces as efficiently as possible
with the available time and equipment, it is likely that the first areas to
be prioritized for restoration will be the Green, Easier, or Beginner
designated trails, followed by the Blue and Black Intermediate and Expert
groomed terrain.

Obviously, inexperienced Beginners or those with less developed skills
will need the most assistance with surface quality first, followed by
Intermediates, then Experts, but regardless, Mountain Crews will try to
prepare restored terrain for all skill levels as quickly as possible.

Based on years of experience, the Tremblant Mountain Crews know
how the Alpine surfaces react to both environmental and mechanical
forces, so we have a great deal of respect for the order in which they
proceed. We urge all Tremblant Mountain users to be patient during
this process as it simply takes time to cover such a large territory and it
can not be all covered simultaneously. This is not unique to Tremblant,
virtually the entire East Coast Of North America has been effected to one
degree or another .

Todays Weather is forecasted to have daytime high temp of -11C
under brilliantly sunny skies with a moderate North-West wind which
would be coming up the Mountain from the Nansen sector.

There will be lots of heat energy in the rays if you can
find trail-side sheltered spots, particularly on the North.

A fairly easy winter day. Temps are also forecasted to have a warming
trend this week, however, not above freezing/zero.

Surface conditions are getting better every day with grooming
and to a degree, every hour with use.

Please remember...
