This whole week of Tremblant's Conditions reports is
brought to you by...

TREMBLANT RULE #1:
There will always be good Skiing or Boarding somewhere
within the open terrain at Tremblant. Period.

It's up to you to explore the open trails carefully to match your
selection with your skill level and have fun!

That should not be much of a problem as the number of restored trails
grows larger by the day.

Surface conditions will do nothing but get better, as grip, traction and
complete "wall to wall" grooming is reaching into the corners of Tremblant's
open trail list. Recovery from last weeks little warm, wet spell is going very
well and for the most part you can now cruise around without too many
concerns, however....

Speed, Control and Conditions Caveat
For All Skill Levels In Effect.

Watch and maintain absolute control of your speed.

Even though there has been tremendous progress with
surface quality for all rated skill levels, there may be
icy glitches that may not be initially visible.

Typically, these areas will be in some high traffic zones
around trail intersections or run-outs to lift zones, like
at the base of Soleil, for example, or on the down-side
of crest contours or steeper pitches.

You need to explore the Mountain with care and control until
you have verified safe passage for your skill level.

Traffic Notes:
President's Week Holiday attendance means increased awareness of
those around you to ensure adequate space for maneuvering. Watch
out for those who are new to the area and may not be familiar with
things and could make sudden directional changes into your path.

------------ end of caveat -------------------------

Basically, it's cool nights and warm winter days, especially when
the sun is out. Today is likely going to be the coldest of the bunch
with this morning at -20C and warming to -11C under bright sun.
There will be lots of thermal energy in the rays today, so if you need
to warm up a bit that should be easy to do on any quiet wind sheltered
trail-side.

Apres Ski...

Sunny, but Cold, with a capital "K"...

Skiing was very fine though. To be sure there is ice underfoot in
places, but once you get a sense of where thats most likely to occur,
like on some of the steeper pitches for example, it's not too hard to handle.

We'll put more up later, but here's a nice Sunshine pic for the time being...
You can also see some of the surface detail in this one. There is not
much in the way of the chunks that were evident a couple of days ago,
but the surface is not overly deep, so a more subtle edge control is required.

To Groom, Or Not To Groom, That Is The Question...

Very recently, there was an examination of "Devils River" and it was
noted that there were many different preferences or opinions for either
"groomed" or "un-groomed" for the fans of that run. At the time,
it was un-groomed, but now, it is very groomed.

We did not have a chance to try it today, but riding up Duncan we tried a
blind, overhand, overshoulder down-hill photo, and got this. Filtering/Fuzzing
out some of the very bright colour temperatures to end up with a blue on
blue contrast snow surface of somewhere around 8,000 Deg. Kelvin.
This blueish tint/contrast actually seems to pull out the depth dimension/perception
and that seems to highlight the apparent smoothness of the run.

We hope to make time to back to Devils River tomorrow to look
at the "After" pic's at ground level that we can compare to the "Before"
ones we posted here earlier in Feb.

If you have good, fresh edges, you can carve this at Tremblant!

All things considered, the conditions are very good, but the base is
fast and hard, so you need to keep speed under absolute control
and you need to go a speed that you can come to a fairly abrupt
halt for safely avoiding unanticipated hazards or traffic.
