Today at Tremblant...

After 2 weeks of very fine late winter conditions featuring
abundant natural snowfall, we are transitioning into the
cycle of Spring. Of course, there have been the occasional
rainy episodes before now, but we've been fortunate enough
to have them when the "+", "plus" temps have been close
enough to zero that the summit and the North have gotten
away with either Snow or no significant effects.

This recent active weather period of the last 2 weeks has been
an absolute joy, particularly for those willing to carefully explore
the open terrain to discover just how much snow has actually fallen
and perhaps even more importantly, how Mother Nature has
distributed it over the 4 sides of Tremblant with the drifting
patterns created by wind direction and orographic precipitation.

Why we've got such a great base...

Keep in mind that this Pic above was our "Proof of Snow" 10 days ago
and until today, this snow has remained undisturbed by rain on the North.
It's been packed, groomed and has "settled" by now, but it is
still a main reason we are going to have such durable "Spring"
conditions. Pic location 4 meters trail-side P'tit Bonheur,
first turn.

Let's take a look at how the weather can work at Tremblant.
This Summit Web Cam Snap Shot is of the roof and surrounding
area between the Ski Patrol H/Q and the off-load zone of the
Lowell Thomas Triple Chair Lift from yesterday, as per time-stamp.

This Pic. above actually shows characteristics of snow distribution
that can be scaled up to represent the whole Mountain.
Take a close look at the way the snow has been pushed off the corners
of the windward(left, south) side of the roof and then look at how the
wind has laid the snow down on the leeward(right, north) side of the roof
and on from there continuing toward the right, north side of the pic
toward the trees. If you scale this concept up to the size of the whole
Mountain, you can see exactly what has been happening at Tremblant
for about the last 2 weeks. The main characteristic that's important here
is how snow moves over a "peak" , either a roof, or a Mountain.

No other "Peak" in the Laurentian's has the scope or scale
of these fine conditions as Tremblant. It is simply the best,
and most universally acknowledged as such.

As much as we will miss the pure winter weather of 24 hour sub-zero
no thaw, dry, deep snow, it is that past that will give us such excellent
and complete coverages for the sunny warm spring days ahead.

Tremblant is going to have beautiful spring conditions, from now on.

The completeness of the coverage at this stage guarantee's it, and when you
factor in the potential of the below average spring temp cycles that
are currently forecasted, you can be assured that your spring days at
Tremblant are going to be very, very good.

Tremblant Mountain Crews will be moving into what we might call
"Preserve and Protect" mode in order to maximize the durability and
the quantity of open trails. We can expect the open trail numbers to
go up and down as they conserve and carefully maintain terrain that can
be kept on-line with pro-active grooming.

Statistically, we can also look forward to additional natural snow which will
be a welcome bonus anytime, it is after all, only the 18th of March. Let's
keep "fingers crossed" for one or two good 'ole fashioned spring blizzards!
The weather stat's will show late March, early April snowstorms of 30 or
more CM's, so it can happen.
