Summary:
"Skiing Run after Run on P'tit Bonheur at #Tremblant
Today like being stuck on a Beautiful Little Desert Island
with Halle Berry...#umisstagd1 ... Only one, but perfect."
Carve This! That's what we posted on Facebook and Twitter,
And we mean very word of it....
Hate to tell ya this, but if you put off skiingTremblant
today and could have made it, you may have made a mistake.
We were right about the Summit being colder last night
and nothing suffered on P'tit Bonheur, not a single snowflake.
It was calculated risk, but the people who got to ski/board
P'tit Bonheur today won big-time. It was fast, a bit icy even
along La Crete, but the run itself... perfect, top to bottom.
you could really see people getting into their technique too,
you could carve 'til you drop. Zero Line...
Best single run in the Laurentian's???
More/Pic's later, as time permits.

3(*) Open Trails on the Official list this morning.
Yesterday....
Even though base level was "damp", the summit was above the
cloud as you can see here. The skiing was very good on
both South and North. Base wax/coating for "warm" is
a very real asset for glide/ride performance.
Even with the hopes and prayers of all Tremblant Fans,
this morning we see a reduction in the open terrain
which is now one descent path along Upper La Crete to
P'tit Bonheur and down to Lowell Thomas Triple chair.
On one hand, there will be disappointment, no one is
happy to see a loss of ski/board terrain, but the forces
of Mother Nature seem to be dominant.
On the other hand....
If we had to choose one run to be open, fortunately for
us, it would be P'tit Bonheur. Even with the Mountain 100%
Open in late February, P'tit Bonheur is our choice for
"Last Run" 90% of the time if we're parked on the North.
Working with Mother Nature is like playing Poker with
someone who gets unlimited, infinite card "draws" when you
only get two, the humans on your team and the tools they
have to work with. In this case, Mother Nature has drawn
weather cards that are not favourable to the best of the
human efforts or desires.
What can we say? Having P'tit Bonheur to ski is still 100%
better than when the alternative is no skiing at all.
Pic Taken at 3:05 P.M. yesterday showing fine conditions
with complete coverage. Hopefully, we'll find the same
today.
We think it's very fair to point out that historically speaking,
Opening day(s), week(s) have often been limited to one run
and we were thrilled and very happy to have even that, all
those years ago, despite the sometimes very marginal
conditions of much less sophisticated snowmaking than we
have the current advantage of.
The possibility exists that the rain damage is quite minimal
and Mountain Management has chosen to close the South
for other entirely valid reasons that we are not privy to.
For example, with the biggest Children's Charity Fundraiser
at any Ski Resort on the planet coming up in 10 days or so,
it may be necessary to preserve the South Side track with
as little wear as possible in order to have ideal conditions
for the huge traffic volume that route will get.
We will be out there anyway doing training laps on our old
friend, P'tit Bonheur, so we'll let you know how it goes.
3(*) Open Runs On the Official Trail and Grooming Report On the Bright side, there is actually "Sunshine" (remember the Sun?...
it's that really big, bright ball of light we see sometimes during the "day")
in the forecast, believe it or not, by around 10 A.M., so hang onto your
hats for this ride, it could even turn out to be a great day anyway!
The rest of the weather details are a potential base level high temp
of up to +9C with low to moderate west winds coming up the Nansen
sector. Summit temps are going to be just above freezing somewhere,
maybe + 2 or 3, so very easy to handle, particularly if this alleged
"sunshine" does occur.
Tremblant Early Season Training.
Teams anxious to get out of the gym and on to real snow
know that Tremblant is the place to be. We want to be here
for the same reason. Anyone want to do training laps on P'tit Bonheur?
We'll see ya out there....
