11/30/11 Tremblant Conditions

Tremblant360 Apres Ski...

This is what we've got now...(*)
Proof of Snow, Summit.
Proof of Snow, North.
Proof of Snow Making, Summit.
Proof of Snow Making, North.

Summit Temps dip below zero by mid-day
and by 2:15 P.M., there was clear evidence
of natural Snow building on the summit. By 4:14 P.M.
there was visible preparation by Mountain Crews
to establish Snow Making.

As far as we can tell, Snow Making has been ongoing since
about 4:20 P.M. today

(*) Please Note: There could be more, however
above noted are the only ones we have "Proof"
for.

All included in "Reply", below.
Scroll down through this page...

-------------- 8:17 A.M. Orig. Post --------------------------------

Original Post:

3(*) open runs on the official list
being the one descent from the Summit,
Via La Crete, to P'tit Bonheur and
riding up on Lowell Thomas.

Excusez-moi Mother Nature,
can we please move on now?

Dear Mother Nature...
We will continue to love P'tit Bonheur for as long as we can
bolt two boards on to our feet and let gravity take over, but
we need some more snow please... or at the very least,
could you please turn down the heat so our Hero's in
Mountain Operations can make snow and spread it around a bit?

We think today will pretty much be a carbon copy
of yesterday and all we can say is thank-goodness
the Summit's higher elevation means cooler temps
than base levels, because that's a big reason we've
been able to enjoy the remarkable and very fine durability
of P'tit Bonheur.

Summit still shows "White", not to mention "fog"....

As far as the weather goes... we're already way outside
the projected temps for this hour at +8 when they're
supposed to be +2, but the forecasted trend does show a
fairly rapid drop during the day as a front passes through
taking us back to more favourable Snow making temps...
Not a minute to soon either, we really need these lower
temps to get winter back on track.

The remarkably fine, carve like butter,
P'tit Bonheur surfaces.

The preservation of P'tit Bonheur's fine surfaces since opening
day is almost a miracle, but there they are, still today.

If you can "dress for the occasion", you will be rewarded with
another excellent training day. If your bases are done with
"warm" temp range wax or coating, you will be fast too.

It's a "Private Club", Tremblant Die-Hard fan day.

Our Motto "If there's a strip of snow big enough to do turns on,
and a way to get to the top... We'll be there!"

We Needed Cooler Temps and Snow,

We Asked For Cooler Temps and Snow,

We Got Cooler Temps and Snow!

Thanks Mother Nature!

Now then, on to some of the Chronological Proofs of todays events.

Lets start out with the morning Web Cam snap shot which
was added in to our report above at about 8:58 A.M.

What we want you to look at is the dark band in the lower right
corner that is underneath the "Time-Stamp" of 8:58 A.M.
That dark band is earth, exposed, with no current snow on it.

Proof of Snow, Starting at 2:23 P.M.

Turning less than 90 degrees, right, we can see what were
those "Brown" patches are now getting dusted in natural Snow!

Looking a bit more closely as passengers get off Lowell Thomas,
we can also see "Snow" in the big upper cable wheel.

As the afternoon progressed, we began to recognize a more rapid
fill-in rate of Natural Snow. This Snap Shot shows snow accumulation
in the trees adjacent to the Lowell Thomas Summit Off-Load Zone.

the steepest upper pictch of EXPO. Pic Taken at 4:21 P.M.

This Snap Shot of Mountain Crews is important because it marks
the actual start of Snow Making as can be seen by the small
light source on top of the Turbo Snow Maker at the top of Beauchemin
as seen on the right side of this screen.
This light source only comes on when the gun is producing.

This sequence moving from left to right across the Summit
shows the various Turbo Snow Makes with their Tell-Tail Light
Sources pumping out as much snow as they can.
Through the gap in this pic., you can just see the corner
of the Summit Lodge Grand Manitou, closest to the McCulloch,
Soleil side

The Web Cams pick up the Snow Gun Blast cone as they see
it through the Snow Maker's Light Source so we get this unique
Optical pattern of diffused light and snow.

Tremblant's Web Cams are a tremendous asset to those
interested in the processes used to establish and maintain
the fine surfaces we get to ski and board on.
