Blowing and Drifting Snow, Now that is a "Happy" problem for a Ski Area.

It will take a day to sort things out after yesterdays snow storm,
get the grooming caught up a bit, survey what needs to be
done and put a plan into action.

Trail count at 68 this A.M., so the Mountain is in maintenance mode
at this moment. You can tell that when there is 17 CM of fresh snow,
but the trail count only goes up by 1.

It is wise at this stage to manage the new snowfall in such a way
that it will add to the durability of the existing base.

The fact that much of the Mountain was so extensively groomed
on Friday night was the beginning of serious preparation for
yesterdays snow and now the finishing touches will be applied.

Skiing through the areas where the snow guns are active is best
done at very slow speeds to avoid fine ice particles from forming
on your goggle lenses. If you go too fast, the gun blast will cover
your lenses and other than going in for a few minutes to warm
and dry them, there is no practical way of removing ice without
scraping, which is not good for lens coatings, so slow down
and you will not have a problem.

This was an issue on the weekend on Fuddle Duddle and
Sissy Schuss, for example, but we must keep in mind that
snow making now is essential to a long smooth season,
so in the interest of future conditions the Mountain Crew
needs to "Make Hay While the Sun Shines" or Blow Snow
While the Snow Making is Good, or something like that.

This is going to be another very solid year, like last year. Maybe
not quite as much snow, but still a lot more than average, and
who knows, we could get lucky and get even more.

Based on how the seasons have started for the last decade or so,
we are so lucky to have these EXCELLENT early season conditions.

it feels like we are at mid to late January levels, at least 2 to 3 weeks
ahead of things.

you need to make plans to get here A.S.A.P.
