23(*) Open Trails on South And North Tremblant
...and experts are gonna like this!....
Including La Griffe, Black Diamond, Mogul Run!
More on the way here very shortly...
...but speaking of "On the Way"....
Are you "On The Way" to Tremblant?
Some of what we do is to assist prospective visitors
with useful homework that could add beneficial
information to whatever matrix of decision making factors
they might use to plan their trip to Tremblant.
When to visit, how long to visit, what to expect for visit,
etc., etc., etc.
We think the following is a good case study sample because
it is a common type of question and if there's one person
that takes time to submit a written question, there are probably
a lot more that may be asking themselves similar questions,
but for one reason or another, have not written yet.
So anyway, recently this good question was asked on Tremblant.ca's
FB page.
We saw it several hours after it was posted, it was on a weekend when
regular responders may have been off or away from their screens, so
we kept an eye on it for several more, by which time there had not yet
been a response, so we replied, thinking some back to basic stat's might
be an appropriate place to start. After all, stat's are stat's, historically
speaking.
------------------------- Question ------------------------------
The question goes:
Planning on coming for a week starting January 15th and
I'm trying to decide how many days I wanna ride.
Any estimate on how much terrain could be open?
That would help my desision
Our reply was:
Last 3 years stat's for Jan. 15th are...
2011- 65 runs, 448 acres,
2010- 89 runs, 601 acres,
2009-79 runs, 531 acres.
3 Year Average-
78 runs over 527 acres for Jan. 15.
Beyond the numbers, and in our opinion only, it's way to early to
predict a month ahead as Mother Nature can go opposite to
expectations either better or not, so average may be a good bet.
No matter though, typically there's a very good selection for all
skill levels and the stable patterns of winter are well established.
Last years 65 runs were 42.54 Kilometres of very fine
Quad burning carving exercise with Tremblant's signature Views.
We think your week here will go very well because regardless of
actual open trails, East Coast conditions are somewhat relative, and
Tremblant's terrain quality is, according to SKI Magazine's 2012
"Best InThe East", at the highest levels possible on everything that
can be open.
-------------- end of response ----------------------
If you were sitting in the Drawing Room of your Country Home
just outside of Chawton, Hampshire, England, or in the suburbs
just outside Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, or in South Hampton,
Long Island New York, USA, thinking... "I'd like
to go to Tremblant and I've got time I can take to do that on
XX/YY/ZZZZ time and date, how might things be?
That's what we imagine would be the suitability of the answer we gave.
Here's another way to answer the question...
Shred This!
Fantastic surface conditions from Day 1! We have spent entire weeks at Tremblant from Opening Day when there
may only be a couple or more runs open and had almost as much fun and
exercise as any other time in the later season when there's a lot more
Open Terrain, because we understand and are very happy with the
reality that the seasons buildup of open runs is gradual at ANY Ski Resort,
and it's always important to get onto the Mountain any time it's possible
instead of waiting, if you don't have that flexibility.
For those that have a fixed window of timing opportunity, you need to
know that the Mountain Crews at Tremblant will have the descents here
tuned to the highest levels possible in the Ski Resort industry...
... Any time you can be here, Hence, our reference in the answer
to the "SKI" Magazine "Best Resorts" issue.
Tremblant has won it's category for 15 years in a row for good reason.
Quality of the total Resort experience, but always with a focus on the Alpine
Skiing/Boarding surface quality.
This tradition has been carried forward and brought to this level
of regional and global recognition by the dedicated people from
this community that have maintained it for over 70 years.
Moving on to todays Skiing and Boarding...
We have the possibility of a local weather glitch involving
freezing rain which seems odd at -6C, but the Weather
Network has posted the warnings so it could happen.
As far as we are concerned, there will be not much harm if it
falls as freezing rain, beyond a crusty layer that we may need
to break through for a few hours, because the time frame is short
and there's a good possibility that the Summit's higher elevation
could even see some snow out of it.
There is a moderate Nor-East wind associated with this system
that may effect P'tit Bonheur as it passes over the Mountain from
that side toward Soleil, so for today, McCulloch may have the best
favour for snow surface conditions. If the precipitation is fine enough
it will have no effect at all, anywhere, and it will ski/board like snow.

you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
