---------------------------------------------------------------
7:30 A.M. Morning update:

40(*) Open Trails on South and North, with "Progressive"
or Gradual Edge Sector First Season's Opening Today!

-------------------- 5:59 A.M. Orig. Post -------------------

Today at Tremblant...

"More" and "Better" ... We can get used to this,
especially when it describes trails and surfaces
at Tremblant!

Today's preliminary report which was created yesterday,
forecast 40 Open Trails for this morning. The Official
Daily Reporting has not yet been posted(5:59 A.M.), we'll have
it up here as soon as we see it, but we know we're going to have
"More and Better" than yesterday because of a bunch of Fresh
Snow ...9cm or 4 inches, that came over Christmas Eve.!

The really big news in the "More" department is the Seasons
first Opening of the "Edge" sector of the North Side. This is a
favourite of many Tremblant fans who are anxiously excited
about getting onto some of their cherished Edge trails at the
first chance they can.

This Excellent Archived FB Pic., Courtesy of Tremblant.ca
tells a huge story about the massive SnowMaking and Terrain
Development work going on around the clock by Tremblant
Mountain Operations. They are the main reason we have the
fabulous conditions we do, day after day. This Team Rules!

Today's weather is already a lot warmer than yesterday and
warmer than the forecast too, by a couple of degrees C., with
-6C, still more than enough to keep us in the Snowmaking zone,
particularly on the cooler Summit, but not so cold as to be any
sort of harsh or bitter, so it will be a very pleasant, easy winter
day, with one potential exception...

...If there's a kicker in the weather, it's the wind which is forecasted to
be moderate to strong, starting out from the Nor-West, or coming up
Nansen, moving across the Summit towards Duncan, then, during the
course of the day, swinging around to the South-West to end up
crossing the Summit from Soleil and moving towards P'tit Bonheur.

This shifting wind pattern can often be associated with a weather front
and changing conditions, and indeed, the forecast shows a move from
Sun today to Snow tomorrow, with accumulations that could reach up
to 10 CM or over 4 inches.

We'll take that, Thank You very much Mother Nature!

All these factors support the notion that there are great
opportunities for new trail openings and we're sure that
this will be a busy week for Mountain Crews who are very
much ready to jump on any chance to get more open.
There's still the time leading up to, and including the long
New Year's weekend, so we think there'll be a big push to
have as much as possible on-line.

The Skiing and Boarding will do nothing but get better. It is
already very very good, and with stable winter conditions,
new snow, daily grooming and more snowmaking, the only
possible outcome is "More" and "Better".

The possibility exists that there may be the odd glitch, as our
member here, Gabo pointed out yesterday, there was a bit of an
icy patch at the intersection of La Crete and P'tit Bonheur as an
example, but any of these will be very minor in the overall picture
and if your Skis or Board have good, sharp edges, you should not find
anything that will be difficult to navigate with the appropriate cautions
on speed and control.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Winter Reports, Index/Archive: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any past, numbered, archived index pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)

We're including an Archival FB pic record in the
body of this post, Courtesy of Tremblant.ca, for the benefit of
future viewers who will be able to see the extensive efforts of
Tremblant Mountain Crews to build the two runs referred to in
the Reply below by Gabo Rousseau.

Both Kandahar and Taschereau are local favourites. If you
go to the "Blog" button on our home page tool bar, you can find
a Trail Review with complete detail on Tacshereau there. This
Blog entry was a request by another one of our regulars who
claims Taschereau as a personal favourite and we were happy to
fullfil her wish.

we take a closer look at this super efficient way to
Open new terrain. The article itself features "Expo"
on the North Side, but the technique applies to any
