Snow in the Summit Trees on a Snowy Day... We Love It!
It May Be A Grey Day... but....

On the "Bright" side, Soleil is Listed OPEN!

For the first time this season we can say all 4 sides
of Tremblant are scheduled to be "Open"!

We say "Scheduled", because the Soleil side runs
are listed as "Progressive" or gradual, pending
Ski Patrol clearance, but we expect that approval
very soon as the Tremblant team will be anxious to
have the new terrain on-line A.S.A.P.

There are at least three good reasons for that.
Firstly, everyone likes to have more variety in the
Open terrain.
Secondly, Soleil is a favourite of many, so that group
will be waiting at the line for the ropes to come down.
Thirdly, having Soleil on-line will definitely help the
potential New Years weekend crowd, and the large
uphill capacity of the Soleil Detachable, High Speed
Quad Chair Lift will assist in keeping Happy Campers
Happy.

In the mean-time, we're happy to see so much of the North
open. This past weeks big snowfall has really been a
benefit as some of our favourite runs that do not have
snowmaking on them, like Banzai and Marie-Claude Asselin,
or "MCA" as it is also known as, are open. Expo Bas, or Lower
was open for one day this week, but is now closed, so the Expo
sector remains the last undeveloped portion of the North and we
think it won't be long before Mountain Crews start working
on that too.

The Skiing and Boarding are going to be very, very fine today.

It's been wonderfully cold since all the fresh snow came 3 days
ago, so not only will it be nice and "Dry" due to the crisp
crystalline structure of cold fallen snow, but the Mountain Crews
have now had 3 days to pack, groom and refine the slopes
to a level that is absolutely the best possible for the still
early season.

There's a wide selection of terrain for all skill levels now from
beginners, right on up to experts, so with something for everyone
there should be miles of smiles for all.

We took a Sneak Peek at some of those "other" big
Eastern Ski Resorts and we're happy to report that
Tremblant looks like it has just about the most consistent
Quality and Quantity in the East. Our more Northerly latitude
and cooler temps have been a huge benefit in terms of early
season terrain development. Statistically, we have more snow
and more runs open than many, and the quality is outstanding,
even more so, given the generally slow start to the season
on the East Coast and in Europe.

New Years weekend traffic could see quite a bit of volume at the
Base Loading Zones, but using the "Singles" line and "exploring"
the Edge and Soleil as well as the Summit Based North and South
by the Lowell Thomas and TGV lifts should help to keep you moving.

We recommend that you Ski or Board right through the Noon
hour and have a late lunch as an option to maximize Ride Time
and minimize the delays and crowds in the lodges.

Todays Weather... What A Relief! Starting out at -4C, expected to rise
to -1C with overcast and Snow Flurries all day. Perfect!
A light to moderate East wind moving from the Duncan Sector
over the Summit toward Beauvalon. At some point later on in the day
the wind should start to swing around to the Nor-West, a wee bit
more than 180 degrees from current, but the velocity should remain
low.

Hard to say this morning how forecasted intermittently snowy
evening conditions could effect the fireworks, but we don't think
they will be effected much at all with the sub-zero eve. temps.
If there are flurries, the best viewing will be at the foot of Johannsen
to the left of the Gondola loading zone, Resort South Base.
If it was a clear eve. viewing from the the Government Dock
across Lac Tremblant is fun as the fireworks backlight the white
trail surfaces as you can see in our sample pic. from last year, above.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Winter Daily Reports, Index/Archive: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any past, numbered, archived index pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
