Happy New Year Wishes To One And All!
If you don't already have a "New Years Resolution", we
recommend that you consider "Skiing/Boarding Tremblant
As Often As Possible" as a worthy candidate.
It is a resolution that will improve your health,
and it's far beyond what simply going to any gym can do,
as any true Tremblant fan already knows.
------------------------------------------------------------
"First Tracks" Update: Those wise enough to have
gotten up early, get set to enjoy freshly minted
Corduroy on Versant Nord, the North Side, before
anyone else. this is a Major freebie for those staying
at the Resort. -------------------------------------------------------------
It was supposed to get down to -8C last night, but
Mother Nature decided to make a little change and
keep the heat on for a while longer, so we awake
to -2C in St.Jovite this A.M.
Thank goodness she at least kept it on the cool side of
the freezing mark, so we don't think it will affect the
Alpine surfaces to any great degree, if at all.
We may see a slight shift in the feel of the snow at the
South Base level because it did get up to Zero for about
an hour, right after the lifts closed. This difference in feel,
if noticeable, may come from the possibility of higher
moisture content in some areas giving the snow a stickier
consistency.
Anytime there's higher moisture, Zero level temp's and then
a return to sub-zero, there can also be the possibility of some
slick or icy bits, but if they do occur, they should be very minor
and we don't think they will occur due to the fact that there's so
much fresh snow around to wick or absorb it off the surface.
Our forecast is that the Summit based, upper level terrain will
all be completely intact with minimal or no impact. Indeed,
having remained nicely below Zero all along, with a couple inches
of fresh snow yesterday, and a total of 8 inches or 20CM for
the last 7 days, which is now groomed in(where indicated on the list below),
it should be better than ever and absolutely superb.
When you see this on the morning Summit Web Cam before
you head off to the slopes...... It looks kinda' like this when you get off the Gondola.... The fog should lighten up within a few vertical feet of descent
from the Summit. It may extend with a random edge and/or density
to Mid-Mountain.
Some of the Open trails/zones where there is no snowmaking and
no grooming may show signs of wear due to traffic and the still
early season "not as thick as February" base, so if you're an
expert skiing/boarding Banzai as an example this morning, explore
carefully for the first run to verify local, natural hazards.
Fresh Coffee for anyone this morning???
Put a little "Zip" in your day!!!
They turned on the "Boiling Kettle" at least "progressively" or
gradually this morning which is the 1 Open trail increase from
60 to 61 on the Official Trail Count.
Pun intended, "Boiling Kettle", trail #58 on Versant Nord, North
Side, exits right, just off the top portion of "Devils River". In a sense,
it's an upper mid-Mountain connector from Devils river to Geant,
but in another sense, a fine little fall line descent on it's own,
rated as a double black diamond, so for experts only. With any luck,
and some "drifting" thrown in, there may even be an opportunity
for some powder shots on Boiling Kettle first thing after the ropes
come down.
