65(*)Open Trails on the continued for this morning,
Chilly 4 sides of Tremblant.
Yup, -25 C, or -13 below zero for our American cousins, is "Chilly"
in our books, but at least the wind is calm right now, so it's not
going to feel as bitter as if it was howling out. That could change.
The Good News is that by noon, we should see a fairly dramatic rise
in temps up to -14 "plus" or "minus" a bit. This rise should remain
constant over the the following 24 hours, from that point.
The Skiing and Boarding are going to be incrementally better than
yesterday as Mountain Crews continue to Groom in their daily, or
should we say nightly pattern that over time, yields finer and finer
surfaces. Conditions are also definitely "Fast"!
Like many other things in life, it's this consistent, regular maintenance
that results in steady quality improvements that you will get to
Ski and Board on today.
People who are not familiar with the way things work ask us...
"How can it keep on getting better and better?". As long as the
weather stays stable, it's a bit like going to the gym. Every day
you go, you perform a cyclical routine of similar actions, which over
time, improve your condition. Over time, you build up better and better
quality "condition". Same on the Mountain. Once again then, when the
weather stays stable, which it has been now for several days, conditions
on the groomed surfaces will do nothing but get better every day.
Of course, if you get sick, or heaven forbid, have an accident or injury,
you can have a "Setback". On the Mountain, that equivalent would be
warm or wet weather. Similar to the personal injury gym analogy, the
ability to recover may be dependant on the state of condition just prior
to the injury. This is where the state of daily maintenance is so critical.
In this analogy, the daily maintained condition/improvements of
Tremblant's Alpine surfaces, prior to any weather "injuries" is the
huge difference that Tremblant Mountain Crews have over almost
all of their Eastern North American peers. It's the reason that Tremblant
is so good to begin with and "recovers" so quickly and efficiently.
Usually, overnight. The depth of experience and aptitude of this Mountain
Operations Crew is at the very top of the profession. We have written
about that in the Blog feature posted on our Home Page and we stand
by every word of that today.

Conditions Are Very Fine...
It's Getting Warmer By The Hour...
Best Way To Work Off Excess Turkey!
Oh Yeah... If you're halfway normal, you may have
added a little weight over the Holidays and there are
not many ways that are as effective and fun to get
rid of that extra you don't want, than Skiing or Boarding
Tremblant. A full day of vigorous Alpine Sports burns
an immense number of calories without the individual
noticing the high level of effort due to the hormonal
output that is associated with adrenaline and endorphins'.
The net effect is that while working out in the gym can have
a certain element of drudgery, i.e. ... boring... Skiing or
Boarding offer the sensory stimulation of speed and Tremblant's
magnificent Natural Surroundings that almost completely
overshadow the effort being expended.
The consequence is that you burn off a ton of calories
but you do not feel it nearly as much during the process,
and that stimulation allows to to go farther in output than
you could probably do in any gym.
