Noon Update: Rope Tow, Versant Nord, North Side Back
On "Open" List.
Temps Up To -9C
The Summit is, and has been, a bit foggy this morning due to
SnowMaking going on around the top of the Mountain. You can see
the brightness of the sun trying to get through to the trees behind
the Lowell Thomas Off-load zone.

go "Somewhere"... are now sitting in traffic jams on the highways
to "Someplace".
It's Tremblant "Walk Right On" afternoon High Speed Lapping for
the rest of those fortunate enough to be here for the rest of the day!

74(*)Open Trails on the incrementally more snowy
4 sides of Tremblant.
This Pic. is actually from a few weeks ago, but sitting
here before sunrise looking for "forecast" samples we
think we'll be looking at today, it sums up todays themes,
"We've got a lot to be thankful for", and "Tremblant, The
Easiest Route to Fabulous Conditions." This is an Official

with the fabulous conditions and all the recent abundant
Natural Snow we've received. ...and it's not just because
it's Sunday either...
Even though statistically, we had more total overall Snowfall
and roughly over 100 more hours of SnowMaking, last year
on this date we had, in rounded numbers, 20 less open trails
than we do today.
The difference, dear readers, is fewer "Thermal" events and
consequently, far greater snow retention.
Every seasons development is like a fingerprint and despite the
seemingly slow start to the season, we've steadily gained open
terrain... and kept it open. Sure, we might go up or down one or
two, but that's basically due to utility functions and what we've
seen is that those one or two's may be runs like Rope Tow that
may have some Park Feature construction, or Le Tunnel, that are
totally dependant on Natural Snow and may get skied off over a
couple of busy days until more Natural accumulates.
Today is the last day of the "Holiday", Christmas, New Year's break,
the last day of the big Holiday Weekend crowds, a really big day
of regional return traffic to Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, New England
and all points within, as people get back to the regular grind of
school, work and life off the "Holiday" Mountain.
At about 2:00 P.M. today we predict you'll see the typical "Empty Lift"
syndrome start to occur, particularly on the North, as folks are anxious
to get "on the road" for home, and almost suddenly, the line-ups vanish.
We really do have an excellent season going on here now, and this is
the moment when we get really serious about how we all need to try
to take advantage of it.
In today's Apres Ski we'll touch base on the significance of some of the
above points in terms of near-future Tremblant Trip Planning, how these
things relate to what you can look forward to in the up-coming weeks.
Todays Weather: Sunny, Gorgeous, Crisp, Wonderful...
and not too cold, as we start out at about -11C with very
bright skies and a light Nor-West wind that will be coming
up Nansen and moving across the Summit towards Duncan.
At this stage, we're already above the forecast high, so by the
time we hit the usual temp peak at around 1:30 to 2 P.M.,
who knows where we'll be, but we would not be surprised to
see us up around -8C ????
There will be very nice Thermal Energy for quiet trailside breaks
and photography today. We hope you have fresh camera batteries
and clear memory cards because the opening scene we put in todays
post will be out there for you to capture a thousand times today and
we hope you take the time to snap off a bunch of pic.s.
The Skiing and Boarding will be very close to perfect.
Mountain Crews have been doing their thing every single night and
from "First Tracks" right on up to "Last Run", all skill levels are going
to find Quality, Variety, and Consistency. There is no question, the
gradual accumulations of natural snow we've gotten have added up
to permit these remarkably fine surfaces.

fine crystal with excellent density when compressed and
groomed.
Traffic Caveat: This is a Holiday Weekend.
Use caution around Trail intersections, over Blind Crests
where you can't see immediately below them, and Trail
run-out zones. There are lots of beginners and guests who are
new to the area that may stop or suddenly change direction
without warning. Reduce Speed in these sectors.
Any other potential glitch zones will be very minor, if any.
They may be more likely on un-groomed, natural snow only trails,
but those will be dependant on traffic, so as the day wears on, experts
who go into those areas should use caution with speed and navigation
until safe passage can be verified.
