1/23/12 Tremblant Conditions

Apres Ski below in "Reply"....
-------------------------------------------------------
Preliminary Apres Ski @ 4:52 P.M.
It may have been foggy at the summit, but you could not
camouflage the fact that the Ski conditions are like Excellent
SPRING SKIING For a day!
What we might call "High Humidity" Snow.
Oh, and it was not raining, but it was a crystalline, frozen
sort of dry sleet. It was not wet.
More later as time permits....
----------- 7:17 A.M. Orig. Post ----------------
95(*) Open Trails = 100% Tremblant.
Experienced Tremblant Mountain Ski/Board fans are going
to know exactly what follows these pictures. The next minutes
are going to be spent descending some of the finest Alpine
terrain in Eastern North America.
Scroll--->>> sideways for complete images. When you scroll this one below over--->>>, please note the "Shred Factor"
the Boarder shown on far screen right is getting. The Tremblant surfaces
have an abundant, and very recent natural snow component that has
been very carefully packed and groomed and has resulted in this beautiful
carving top layer that is super easy to execute navigational inputs on.
If you look closely at all the pic's posted here and in yesterdays
Apres Ski, you'll see that these surface characteristics are evident
on all sides of Tremblant today.
We put these big pictures in on purpose to allow the closest possible
examination of Tremblant's very fine conditions. Unfortunately, there
are no pictures that can adequately capture the realities of scope or the
feel of your Skis or Board gliding over these satin-like surfaces, so the
only way you can verify the impressions they bring you is to be on them
yourself. We hope you are going to be here today to do just that.
Above, Nansen, just below the main pitch, where you can go towards
the far right of this picture to take Mi-Chemin over to the TGV Quad
Chair Lift, or to descend further to the South Side Resort Base.
Like everywhere else, the traction on Nansen is excellent.
When there's no one around and it's safe to crest the pitch at speed, the
grip and lateral force that can be generated is nothing short of thrilling.
If you've got cambered Hi Performance Skis, you can get air on every
turn by simply recoiling off the stored energy in the Skis as they're arched
though the turn. You won't notice the "burn" in your quads 'til later!
If you're a Beginner or an Intermediate, Trails like Nansen and
P'tit Bonheur are absolutely Prime territory for practice and
skill refinements.
Speaking of "refinements" and "Nansen"...
WANNA' GET BETTER????
Look Up Tremblant's World Renowned "Ecole Sur Neige"
Ski School on Tremblant.ca and make progress!
Today's Weather ...
Who Knows???...
Weather forecasters are still not in agreement about
the "Thermal Burp" in plus temps we may get later today, so we'll
try to do more homework on that. Bottom line is that we may see
between 12 to 18 hours of a degree or two or three above freezing
with the possibility of rain. Bummer, man. Anyway, we can tell you
from experience when the wind is from the South like this at right around
the freezing mark there can be rain, but there can also be Snow due to
the higher Summit elevation.
Do not give up hope for a surprise snow event, particularly on the North!
More on this weather story later, but for right this second, it does not seem
as though the skiing today will be effected at all as temp's should not rise
above freezing until Apres Ski.

Great Skiing/Boarding for today, and we'll do our best to sort
through the weather developments and possibilities for tomorrow
and onward in today's Apres Ski...
Lord Willing, Seeya later....
