The days are feeling longer... mostly because they are...
But It Was Supposed To Be Sunny Today?
Seems like one of those "Tomorrow Never Comes" situations
as the sunny sky's forecasted for today have not shown up
so far and while there's a certain brightness when you look straight
up, it ain't into sunshine... yet. The Official Snow Report and the
Weather Network both show "Overcast" icons for the day. We're
hopeful the straight up brightness means sun will appear and
make them all incorrect.
Starting out at -17 C, parka weather? Not quite if we see the projected
day-time high of -6 C. Winds Westerly, Moderate in speed moving across
the Summit from the McCulloch, Beauvallon sectors, towards Lowell
Thomas. Riding up the TGV with the breeze at your back and hopefully
riding up Duncan, you'll only feel it as you crest the Summit peak.
Yesterday On Beauchemin was typical of many descents as a "180 Degree"
view demonstrated the compete contrast between looking one way,
then the opposite....
First, Looking Down... nice, cheerful Sunny spots, fluffy clouds and
Excellent Snow Surfaces, this view of Beauchemin was the....

From A Practical Utility Standpoint Today....
For safety reasons, we're happy to see that day-time Snowmaking
has been reduced to two trails today, the Official Tremblant.ca Snow
Report shows South Side Tascherau and North Side Superieur as the
only locations for "blizzard" conditions.
Conditions Caveat:
Please use great care with Speed and Control in both
Current and Recent Snowmaking zones.
In The Current....
vision may be greatly reduced and variable, literally
from moment to moment and yesterday we saw people
winging into white out sections with speed that they could
never come to a safe stop at, if they "ran into" someone
else there at the same time.
In The Recent...
Seems Obvious to us, but evidently not to others...
but when you encounter the "Big Bumps" zones, which can be
loads of fun... use caution if you have not actually been
over the terrain before to scope out the shapes or landings.
Yesterday, at second last run, riding up the Gondola, we saw
an overconfident individual ski off the lip of a big bump on
Lower Desserrs who had no idea of either the lift or distance
he was going to get. Suddenly, he found himself flying through
the air and in a slow motion flailing of arms and legs, he did a
face first head plant 3 or so meters down the other side. Skis off,
Snow Flying, whirling poles and body parts... As we watched in
horror, he lay motionless for several seconds before we saw his
head rise... wheeew... that's one way "accidents" "happen".
Please don't let that be you.

Now That We Have That "Safety Thing" Out Of The Way...
The new Snow over the existing base is a joy to be on.
The only background shown is the only one that counts...

usual places like wide open windblown, or steeper pitches,
or in high traffic zones, and they can vary during the day,
especially the ones related to "Traffic", so you need to explore
carefully before you engage "Light Speed".
Other than that, the carving is superb and lateral grip for cutting
razor edge turns is reliable and consistent. On steeper pitches we
found doing "Old School" skidded, short radius parallel turns
on the sides often rewarded us with very nice, soft turnable
snow, with not even a spot of ice or any other glitches to upset
rhythm.
You really need to think "Flexible" in terms of technique though,
because rapidly changing surfaces between the centre and the edges
on some of the wider boulevards require quick adjustment.
Fuzzy Or Not... We had to add this colourful character who's
coming in for a landing from Sgt. Peppers Planet Somewhere.
The colours are just too much fun!

Conditions At Tremblant.
It Might be "Green" where ever you are in any number of
Eastern cities or Southern regions, but "Winter" is very much
alive and well at Tremblant!
Are you here for the Weekend?
Regional/Local People... Get your act together
and make sure you get out for these superb
conditions. What's great today, will be better
tomorrow too, due to the continued 24 hour a day
efforts of Tremblant Mountain Crews. "Refinement"
happens Every Single Morning!
