Conditions 2/13/09

Well, Today should be an interesting day.
The temps started to fall late yesterday afternoon and they kept on going down.
We now find ourselves at -19C, after a day of + 6C.
Of course, the interesting bit will be just how much the Mountain crews were able to get done with the surfaces overnight.
We have an open trail count this morning at 57 and the Soleil side is open today so there should be a good variety of terrain for everyone.
More interesting info. and a continuation from yesterdays report:
So, yesterday was the kind of day that some people just look out the window and say "I'm not doing that." and then they go back to bed or curl up on the couch with a hot drink and a good book.
Wrong answer! Yesterday was "Spring Ski/Board Conditions, Par Excellance!"
Not only was there fantastic "Grip" everywhere you went on the open terrain, but there were virtually NO BARE SPOTS ANYWHERE!
This is a huge difference from typical "Spring" conditions when melting and wear combine to produce all kinds of natural Glitches or hazards in the surface.
Yesterday there was none of that.
On top of all that... IT SNOWED ON THE NORTH SIDE FOR MOST OF THE DAY!
I caught "Last Run" on the North side at about 3:44 P.M. and as I came down Duncan there was as much as 3 or 4 inches of fresh powder snow filling in from the left hand side.
15 minutes earlier, Banzai, from the mid-point down was completely covered from side to side in 2 or 3 inches of perfect new snow.
The whole afternoon was great everywhere.
"Spring" on the South Side, "Winter" on the North Side and all of it good.
Yes, you needed an adequate outer layer to keep from getting too wet, but other than that, it was an extremely fine day.
Yesterday was the main reason you should own a Descente' Poncho. It is the most brilliant piece of "Spring" gear you could possibly have.
No matter what weather Mother Nature threw my way yesterday, I was warm and DRY the whole day. Perfect.
Watch out for speed today, because obviously, after a warm day yesterday and back to winter today, there are going to be icy spots and you want to be prepared to be able to stop safely at all times.
If you explore carefully the first runs, you will have enough info to know where the good surfaces are, remember, you can always find good skiing or boarding somewhere at Tremblant!
Today, it's back to winter for outer wear selections, but at least it's going to be sunny, so we'll have fun anyway.
Try checking the "Twitter" feed during the day today and I will attempt to do some "Brief" Trail condition posting.
In case you are not familiar with "Twitter", you can check it out on our home page "Tool Bar".
