10:50 A.M. Update:
Self Explanatory:
Snow!
We "Like" This !!! ...
We have no idea if it will continue, or for how long,
but it much better than other recent forms of
"precipitation" received! So far, Temps seem to be
floating around the freezing mark.
We're also thinking that whatever the weather does today will vary
greatly from sector to sector with a high degree of unpredictability.

Armchair Web Cam Detectives...
Anyone who's had the patience to be a frequent reader here will
know we make no secret about the benefits of the Tremblant
Web Cams. We go through established routines of scanning them
in the early morning to add what can be seen with weather stat's,
the previous days experience, the way things are trending, or to compare
to other days that historically may be similar in order to be prepared
for the expected conditions on any given day.
This becomes particularly relevant when we enter into the transitional
Spring portion of the season and we're looking for all the info we can get
in order to be properly "layered" before heading out the door and/or
when the Open Trail count is changing from day to day.
It is with great interest then that this morning we can see a frosty accumulation
of whiteness on the roof of the Summit Ski Patrol H/Q. To us , this is a very
good sign that the overnight Summit lows were sub-zero, and still are, and that we'll
probably have another day of "Fast", maybe even better than yesterday.
This "Fast" forecast for today stems from the actual experience of yesterday,
in which "Fast" was restored from the previous "Sticky", as well as the visual
showing the Sub-Zero evidence as noted in the Web Cam pic.
We think the overnight lows will have sort of combined to solidify and
dry out the "corn snow" of yesterday(shown below), with the net result
of firm surfaces that are not icy, but very "carve-able", with good edge
hold and low resistance, hence "Fast".
Yesterday's Summit Corn Snow should be considerably firmer today,
hopefully, right through to Last Run. The Vision "Issues" for today
remain to be "seen", literally, but could change frequently.
We are now at the stage were we have to be prepared to Ski the Open
terrain that Mountain Crews have determined is safe, and that recognize
that in order to keep the season alive for Tremblant Die-Hard Winter Alpine
Snow Sports Fans, strategic trail management is vital to having as much
open, for as long as possible.
The Official Snow Report states: "Please note that due to spring conditions,
some trails are subject to closures or progressive openings without notice."
We are going to need to have flexible expectations from now on, but we
have great confidence in Tremblant Mountain Operations Crews who are
amongst the best in the business at keeping as much open as they can.
If you Scroll this pic. around, you can see the kind of variable
dynamic that was going on yesterday, and we expect to see repeated
today. Vision was definitely better on the North, generally speaking,
but if you look closely at lower screen left you can see the mist/cloud/fog
that was localized and very much transient. At times it looked like the sky
was "Boiling" or "Stirring" or even "Clearing", but the main thing was that
you could reliably see far enough ahead to enjoy the speed that the snow
surface was capable of. Conditions Caveat:
Explore carefully and use caution and low speed in all areas
of reduced visibility or obvious Trail wear factors.

pleasantly surprised by the performance and speed
characteristics of the base. Thank goodness we had
all those cold consecutive days back in "Winter",
we're getting benefit from them now.
