Things could be a lot worse, like "Closed", but Tremblant continues
to set the example of how to make the best of a difficult situation
that's effecting the Eastern Half of the entire Continent.

All things considered, there are many areas of relatively good
surface conditions. All things considered, actually amazing that
as much has survived at this level of consistency.

Here's a basic pic.summary of the snow at this point.
Soft Spring Corn Snow, well drained and not holding
too much moisture on slopes, but plateau's can be soggy.

Nansen is O.K., but it does get choppy in places, very soft in others
due to direct Solar Radiation.

any Sunny day.

Rope Tow to either Rigodon or La Traverse to Beauchemin is an
excellent choice for a Versant Nord, North Side Summit to Base run.

The "All Things Considered",
Absolute "Trail of the Decade"
Award goes to... Versant Nord, North Side...
Trail #72, P'tit Bonheur!

Every single day since November 24th, this Superb Trail has been the
model of consistency, high surface quality and total reliability.

We could, and do, laps on this beautiful, immaculately maintained run
every single day we're on the Mountain. No matter what skill level you are,
if you appreciate a run so smooth and brilliantly laid out, you have to look
no further than this wonderful North Summit based run for daily carving
practice without fail and today will be no exception.

Assisted by:
- an opposite orientation to the most powerful rays of the sun,
- late day long shadows,
- deep Summit level retained frost underneath,
- meticulous Grooming by some of the most talented Pro's in the industry,
- wall to wall coverage even after a solid week of high intensity heat that
has turned any remaining snow East of the Mississippi River into watery mush...

P'tit Bonheur continues to deliver the best conditions possible!

See 'ya on P'tit Bonheur later on!

We'll have a closer look at the South Side later on today in
Apres Ski.

In the mean-time, go say "Hi" to these folks... they're holding

T360 Apres Ski...

Unbelievably and thoroughly demanding exercise.

Thick snow, heavy with high moisture content, has always
been a challenge for those at the beginner level. They
struggle with directional input against Skis or Board that
seem to be unresponsive to inputs when set against big
mushy mounds of Spring Slush.

Even experts were finding unusual muscle demands in the
moguled descents that are usually as smooth as a billiard table
like upper Nansen, or upper P'tit Bonheur. Fantastic exercise!

The South Resort Village Base was quite busy with a race course set up from the top
of the final pitch, right down to the Resort Base.

The rest of Johannsen was quite Gnarly, if that's the right word, it was a field
of thigh burning, knee pumping, very demanding moguls. We were able to find
a nice rhythm on them using the left side going down, but obviously, beginners
would be having a more difficult time trying to navigate without the benefit of
expertise and likely muscle power as well.

Back on the North, the access to Duncan was via the upper sector of Rope Tow/Lowel Thomas
mid point cat track that puts you on Duncan right at the top of Devils River.

Duncan itself was very unusual in that it's width from the Mid-Point Vanier
intersection down, has been reduced at points that mean all you have to
descend on is the Groomer ridge on the right side as you go down.
The bottom run-out of Duncan was fine, right over to the Expo quad.

The dark looking Debris is primarily fine broken forest particulate
made up largely of tiny bits of Tree needles, moss and lichens. it is clean
and does not effect ski performance at all.

While it would be quite difficult to bring in much snow to Mid-Duncan, at
the Summit, on la Crete, Mountain Crews have been harvesting Snow
to keep the track alive. It's pretty easy there as the close proximity of the
raw material to the areas that need repair makes it convenient and quick.

As far as the Kids go... They all seemed quite content that they had
North Park features to wing off on. They have fun doing them.
We have fun taking pic.s' of them.

Reduced terrain, for sure, but still fun and unquestionably fine
exercise.
