slopes at Tremblant.
The cold snap that's greeted everyone unexpectedly has required
an extra layer or two for those out in it, and for the Mountain, it
means an extra layer of Snowmaking!
We ran a close-up version of this one in Apres Ski yesterday,
but this one really shows, from a "Big Sky" perspective, how
Tremblant's extensive Snowmaking can also be a localized "weather maker". The immense scope of Snowmaking at Tremblant is impressive.
Riding up any of the lifts and you'll overhear endless "Wow"
remarks about it over and over.
Cooler temps unquestionably make for better blown snow and
anyone that's had the chance to be on it so far knows how fine
that can be. Add in the abundant Natural Snow that's come in
the last week and you've got a November for the record books
all the way around, in terms of both coverage and quality.
Early Season Global/Tremblant Training References:
Below:
All the serious Skiers/Boarders know how valuable early season
training is and here's a classic example as we met this
very keen Skier from Aberdeen, Scotland, who is attending
a Ski Instructors Group Activity this week at Tremblant.
(scroll right --->> for complete images. This is a full/bigscreen zone.) What we like about this photo, is not only that we get a chance to meet
and welcome fascinating people from all over the world, but if you look
around and we told you at any other time that this pic. had been taken
at the end of January.... no one would blink an eye, and everyone would
believe it.
All the open terrain Skis like January too, so while we would typically have
a greater open trail count in January, for the end of November, we're way
ahead of normal and that makes this years early season training a whole
lot of Fun!
Above:
This was a spontaneous action shot with no setup so sorry about the
soft focus, but what we really like here is how well it captures the
essence of what we call the "Shred-able" characteristics of Tremblant's
surfaces, almost wall to wall, everywhere you go.
Back to Snowmaking for a moment...
The immense scope of Snowmaking going on at Tremblant is impressive.
North, South, any lift you ride up on, there are "Wow" comments
about the huge effort Mountain Crews are obviously applying.
This shot below shows Rigodon, Versant Nord, the North Side,
right at the Lowell Thomas Triple Chair loading zone, in the long
North shadows of last run . It's a chilly -16 C and sunny here early this A.M. but it is headed up to
somewhere around -7C by afternoon under an increasingly cloudy sky.
Looking off to the North, not a cloud to be seen. Looking of to the South,
the horizon is already showing distant cloud.

(Page under very evolutionary construction this A.M., as we've got
a lot of out-of-office chores to do that have been put off to ski!
...check in as often as you like, we'll be adding more on Tremblant's
fabulous conditions here off 'n on all day.)
