Apres Lunch Hour Update at 2:10 P.M.:
Things may have a damp edge but there is not any significant
loss of terrain and... the Open Trail count is going UP by 1 in the
preliminary Snow Report for Tuesday!
Here are some mid-morn to noon webcam samples as proof of

21(*) Open Trails on the temporarily warmer, potentially
"Spring Like" Slopes of Tremblant.
While there was a lot of concern over the past 24 hrs. about
the wet weather...
Yesterday we wrote:
"There is also the possibility, particularly on the Summit and North,
that due to the usual 4/5 C cooler temps at the higher elevation,
the precipitation could actually be SNOW!!!"

without sub-zero overnight temps and the fine dusting of fresh.

something, so doing the usual early morning webcam homework
before heading off to the Mountain, we're happy to see that there's
a fine dusting of snow up there instead of bare trees or rooftops.
Of course with the current warm in the forecast, it may not remain looking
like this. If that's the case it at least speaks to our point about the minimizing
of the effects of warm with overnight, sub-zero lows.
It was actually supposed to look like this, according to yesterday's
forecast, but evidently, it doesn't quite yet!

"warm" that the lower elevations will be showing.
This will actually be an excellent Private Club type day of
low Mountain traffic, and high quality traction for
the most part. We say for the "most part" because
with yesterday's rain and the temp differential between
Base and Summit levels, there can, may, will probably
be some glitch zones.
As usual, your best friends when surfaces are going through
transitional characteristics, are sharp edges. They are the
best assurance that going across and icy substrates, your
ability to control speed and direction will be optimal.
While speed and directional control may be considered primarily
a safety issue, they're a fun issue too. It's always more fun to
have the confidence that control reliability gives you for all
the conditions you cross in any descent.
We think this is particularly applicable now when it's literally
the first day(s) of the season and those dormant muscles from
the summer off can use all the "edge" they can get!
Today's weather is supposed to be partially sunny, but there's no real
sign that's going to happen. We're not unhappy about that as keeping
all heat sources including solar, off the slopes when things are warm
to begin with is a good thing. The winds are also supposed to be light
and from the South-West, and that's good too. Warm blowing air is
definitely not snow-friendly, so a light wind will be much less of a
problem.

this point. It was P'tit Bonheur and it was in excellent shape, but
that should really help to put into perspective how very, very
lucky we are at Tremblant so far this season with over 20 open
trails.
pg. still under construction and we'll definitely have
some Apres Ski later on.
