12/9/12 Tremblant Conditions

T360 Apres Mid-Night, Apres Ski...
(...and partial draft of tomorrows report items)

One of the challenges in Social Media reporting is
to balance the acquisition of raw news items/activities,
with the processing time that is required to render them
into an appropriate format for publishing.

That balance becomes a bit difficult to achieve when there is
so much going on. We've been so busy attending the
array of 24 Hour Children's Charity activities, that it has left
us short of time to process all that's going on . Basically,
it's hard to be in two places at once.

For that reason, we apologize for not having a more timely
Apres Ski today.

Moving forward...

The positive news on all fronts begins with Record setting pledges
of Aprox. $2,070,000 from the Ski/Board 24, plus the Marche/Walk 24,
Record Participants at 2000, and a 12 year total of over $12,000,000!

The sun was in and out at the Summit this morning, adding a very
bright background note to the early scenery as 24 Hour entrants
accelerate onto the course.

Meanwhile, for those not directly connected with the event who
were simply out for a fine day of Skiing/Boarding with all the fresh
air and vigorous exercise... the day started out with unusually
beautiful contrast, with over 6 to 8 inches of fresh snow, now packed
and groomed into just about perfect carving surfaces.

Right through to the end of the day, the superb speed and control
that had begun in the morning, remained consistent. There were
some slippery bits, but nothing that was particularly difficult with
Skill sets matched to trail ratings.

The weather stayed enough "cool" that the snow was nice and dry
all day... Conditions getting Better and Better, by the day...

24 Hour Children's Charity Breaks New Ground!!!

Yup... Never before, at least quite like this...

A New 24 Hour of Powder Line !!!

Sure, it's a bit fuzzy, blurry and dark, but Snap Shots at night in
a blizzard while moving may never be perfect, however...

...we think it's kinda cool anyway, not only as some sort of "artsy"
style "Study in Blue" photograph, but also because it sums up quite a
bit of the essence of participating in this years 24 Hour event.

The rate of snowfall during the night was dramatic on course and
the accumulation on Alpine, as it runs parallel to Beauvallon at the
Summit, was impressive, very fine and offered those who saw
a great opportunity, a beautiful powder line descent option we don't
think we've ever seen quite like this.

Meanwhile, back up at the Summit Start Gate,
there was a steady stream of participants rocketing out under
the bright lights onto the course all night long...

Just in case you have not yet figured it out...

The Skiing and Boarding at Tremblant today are going to be
exceptional.

After the event ends at noon, typically, course workers dismantle the
barriers and the smoothest, fastest, best kept terrain on the
East Coast of North America today, opens up to the public.

At that point, all of Tremblant's guests will have the best afternoon
of Downhill Snow Sports so far this season.

pg under construction, more on the way...
if you're not here yet, try to fix that... otherwise,
if Mother Nature keeps this up, we'll have an extraordinary
base by the time you can make it.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
