Race training on Kandahar too.

Surface conditions were "Lots of fresh Snow Everywhere" so much so
that even some of the Green runs were getting quite a thickness to them.
Extra care was required to keep edges from catching and you needed to
be firm with control movements or the thick snow could cause complications.

Leaving the Summit, both South and North had much the same conditions...
a Ton of fresh Snow!!!

Temps falling a fair bit tonight as -23C forecast for early, rising up to
-14 C just after lunch.

Official Preliminary Snow Report shows 89(*) Open Trails
and it looks like the closed ones are having maintenance
and/or Snowmaking. Details in the morning.

Sunny though, so bundle up and Enjoy!

---------------- 6:23 A.M. Orig. Post -------------------

95(*) Open Trails on the Slightly Warmer, Slightly Snowy'er
4 Sides of Tremblant!

Daytime High Temp at somewhere around -6C with as much as
5CM, or 2 inches of Fresh Snow, a nice, relatively quiet day on
the Mountain, we think.

We say "relatively" because it is still a weekend Sunday, so there will be
many local people out, and for a while this morning, some of the traveler's
may Ski/Board 'til noon before they head off to New York, Toronto, Boston,
Montreal, Ottawa, Syracuse, Cornwall, or any other place that's within an 8
hour drive or so.

From about 2:00 P.M. or so, we think you'll see a dramatic decrease in
Skier/Boarder Traffic, first on the North, then on the South too.

All those "City Folks" that have to get back to the Concrete Jungle
for work and Kid's at school, will want to set out early so they can
stop at the grocery store, shovel the driveway, make sure the dog
is still alive after the neighbours have looked after him, etc., etc.

What that means is that there will be a select group of privileged locals
and regulars that could experience a "Private Club" afternoon of zero
lines, Ski/Board 'til you drop, uncrowded, Fresh Falling Snow, Pleasant,
Easy Winter -6C, slice of Tremblant Heaven.

This shot of McCulloch from the TGV Quad taken two days ago,
a snowy day, should be just about exactly what you see today...

Below: From Our Apres Ski last evening:
The Snow is a very light, dry , wind and machine packed fine crystal
that is what we would call "Cold Formed" at the lower ranges of
Mother Natures Snow Production Temp's. The wind packed top layer
disintegrates into dust on contact and the groomed surfaces with this
primary component packed into Corduroy are very fast with excellent
edge hold.

This Snow Sample is from trailside Nansen at the intersection of
Mi-Chemin, where it heads over to the TGV.

One more from yesterday as it sort'a sums up the day, beautiful smooth
surfaces, very bright sunny day with spectacular near and long views.
A classic Tremblant "Post Card" day.

Todays Conditions will benefit from the refinement that comes with each
night's grooming. Tremblant Mountain Crews carefully work all the new snow
into the existing base to form a layered surface that will allow just the right
amount of carving depth for endless turns of very high traction.

Un-groomed Expert Terrain will be exactly that... for experts only.
Today is going to be the kind of day where Skills and Terrain selection
should be carefully matched.

The only thing that will limit your turning capabilities today is the Muscle
reserve that you have to make them. It will be an invigorating day of
supreme high energy exercise and tonight, you'll sleep like a rock.

Safety/Conditions Caveat:

Pay attention to any posted signs placed by the Ski Patrol and take them
seriously. If you find yourself in a place that's beyond your level, take it
easy and remember the very basics of stoping, snowplow braking/turns,
and side-slipping to get yourself out. Whatever you do, whatever it takes,
control speed.

An Athletic, Sports Nutrition Note:

Don't forget to support all your physical Ski/Board output with abundant
sources of lean protein. Not just today, but every day you spend a day on
the slopes, your body deserves to be properly supported with the correct fuel
to restore and replenish the muscle you rely on to perform at these high levels
of activity.

Above: Marie-Claude Asselin, day before yesterday and exactly like this with
falling snow today...

If you're sitting somewhere within a short drive, debating about
coming here today... toss your computer out the "window" and
get your butt on the road...

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
