2/24/13 Tremblant Conditions

95/95(*) Open Trails at Tremblant.

Early Morning, Zero Degrees C, South Resort Base Level...

Thankfully, under overcast Sky, so no magnified Solar energies...
A wee bit of fresh snow in the forecast and perhaps even more thankfully,
a very light South wind that may swing around to the West later on.

The temp may go up 1 degree, but if it does, and this is the "more thankfully"
mentioned above... the light wind, if it stays that way, means there will be
no effects on the Snow Surface Conditions on the Lower South Open Tremblant
terrain.

We think this is due to the "Cold Air Sinks" part of the natural Convection
circuit Tremblant benefits from at the very narrowly defined tipping point of
the 0C freezing mark, when cooler, sub-zero air from the peak elevation
that is 4 or 5 degrees C lower temp, washes down the Mountains surfaces.

Consequently, we feel everything above Johannsen, the final descent to the South
Resort Base, as well as the entire North and Edge Sectors have a high probability
of staying sub-zero, maybe not by much, but still completely "Winter".
Soleil at the very base zone may see a bit of the same effects as Johannsen,
but maybe not, because it is at a slightly higher elevation to begin with.

So, if everything holds true-to-form, Mother Natures typical temperature
differentials will have the Summit at around -4 or -5 C and the North Base/Edge
at -2 or -3 C.

If you're on the Slopes at Tremblant today, a rest break trail side
on the Lowell Thomas Sector, within a few metre's of the above,
will look like this...

Another Super Easy Winter Day at Tremblant while many of the
Eastern North American Regional Alpine Resort Areas to the South,
South-East have Rain in their forecasts today.

Thank Goodness for "North".

So Far... So Good....
Expo Quad Base shows a frosty enhancement of the tell-tail
snow in the trees, sub-zero temperature indicator.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
